Sholan Farms is awesome! It's a great place to walk, hike, or socialize (Not just pick apples!)—The culture there is fantastic, which makes it a GREAT place to volunteer, too.
The view is pretty phenomenal, the orchards are blissful, and there's two beautiful reservoirs behind them. There's a hill with quite a few clean paths to hike on, behind the orchards—Once a month (and year round) a group has a "moonlight hike", at night, and they toast marshmallows after the fact. It's great for a quick day hike, too!!
Every year Sholan Farms seems to expand its edible offerings. They grow pumpkins, raspberries, squash (and more I think), and of course APPLES! There's community garden plots that can be rented...aaaaand.. They sell VERY fresh vegetables, picked right from their gardens, for a reasonable price.
There's also free hayrides, live music, and people have had weddings there.
In the winter there's mostly volunteering opportunities. They teach people how to prune apple trees, and love to have help readying their trees for the next season.
As a customer, participant, and occasional volunteer of Sholan Farms, I think you should...

Face painting, scarecrow making, animals, bouncy house, etc… I bought apple cider and the apple crisp. Let’s just say the cider was gone right away and the piece of crisp was so big it lasted me a few days but believe me when I say it was THE BEST APPLE CRISP I’VE EVER HAD!!! 😋😋😋
I also want to add that this is a great place to park to see the sunrise, the beautiful full moon, or just some peace & quiet early in the morning.
They have community gardens that you can pay for and plant your own produce. It’s “your” garden. You plant it, tend it and pick it. A great concept for people with no yard for a...
Read moreFarm for picking your apples and raspberries(depending on the season). There are lots of apple types. You buy a bag and fill your apples. Small bag costs $8.5, medium costs $17.5 and big bag costs $32 if I remember correctly. There is also a store if you want to buy a filled bag of apples, cider donuts and squashs. I have seen photographers take family photos near this farm because the views are so nice. The farm is neighbouring the leominster trails and you can take a trail and hike to beautiul lakes nearby. After we picked our apples, we hiked in the Leominster Trails and I recommend it! there is free parking and...
