Gilletts Lake — Attraction in Leoni Township

Public lake close to Jackson. An easily accessible lake with paved boat launch and separate park area. The lake is shallow and relatively sandy with occasional weeds. Gillettes lake is an all sports lake with many negligent boaters often not following the counterclockwise laws. That being said be mindful even inside the designated swimming area as boaters have crossed the boundary MANY times. I have only been here a couple of times. Each time was a challenge to find good fish. That's fishing they say and I am fine with it. Just so many small fish and mats of weeds. Pull your anchor and five or more pounds of these string like weeds. After a long search we finally found some nice crappie, panfish, one small mouth, one catfish and more than a dozen small bass.
