Broken Spur Event Center — Attraction in Levelland

I can not recommend this place to anyone. The venue itself is very beautiful, but the owner is awful. I went in booking an all inclusive deal. She had many vendors on the list to pick from and I was booking over a year in advance. When it was time to start planning, I asked her about the vendors on her list and it went from 5-6 options down to two on each category because the vendors went up on prices. The vendors that were now my only options were people I had never even heard of. It was very upsetting because she was not transparent on the budget we had for each vendor and now we were locked in on a non-refundable deposit. So our only other option was to cancel the all inclusive package and just rent the venue and find our own vendors. We didn’t want to lose any money, and the venue itself was beautiful. So we went on planning and booking vendors and I hired a wedding planner that was truly amazing. We went to walk the venue and finalize the details when asking about the bar package (that the owner had told us was our only option) she told us she did not offer a bar package anymore. We had no warning of these changes. Getting rid of the bar package made alcohol go from 1.50ish a serving to now 4 dollars! There is no way we’re could afford 4 dollars a serving for all our guest the whole night. (150 guest x 2 drinks=$1,200!!) insane! So we were very upset about this change, and there was no way around it. We asked if we could buy a keg from her, no. We asked if we could buy alcohol from docs and then her bartenders serve it, no. Everything seemed to be going wrong and it all came down to the owner. We paid an extra $200 to use her barn doors, whiskey barrels, and stumps on the aisle. I purchased hundreds of dollars in floral for the stumps on the aisle, and the day before at the rehearsal dinner we were unloading the floral stating this was for the stumps, she informed us that she doesn’t have stumps anymore. Again, this was not communicated to us beforehand, nor did we get a refund on the “rental” of these items. Everything I would ask her she would come up with an excuse to say no. I wanted to put pictures up of our family members that have passed, and she even pushed back telling me where I could and couldn’t put these pictures. This long story all concludes to me warning any and everyone to not book your wedding at this venue. There is absolutely zero transparency on anything, and be prepared for the owner to change everything that she says and promises you. If there was a option for zero stars I would put a zero, the owner/coordinator was not transparent with costs and tried to cancel a vendor on our behalf when in the contract there was no where in it that says we could not have them. Luckily the Vendor gave us half of our money back !! Many plans were changed last minute and surprise charges came up due to two people handling the money and not communicating within themselves, I was told by many of my family members how rude the coordinator was to them and talked to them like they were little kids. Although the Venue was beautiful it was also very stressful to deal with the owner, she yelled at my wife and slammed her hands down when confronted about being over charged and I had to step in to calm down the owner.

To Mary, I don’t know what you mean. I have absolutely no problem showing my proof of being a Veteran. The idea that you would even say that is so disrespectful, I put my life on the line for our country and for you to say that is so disgraceful. I am a photographer based out of west Texas, so I am at this venue often! I have been coming to capture wedding days here for the last few years. This really is the best venue levelland has to offer! It is beautifully designed inside and out with so many warm, western touches, wood finishes, newly revamped bride AND groom suites. Perfect for your groom and his guys to relax and kick back in a spacious/separate building with a TV, couches, pool table, etc while the bride and her girls are getting ready for the day in front of individual vanity areas! They have a gorgeous outdoor area with a pond, bridge, fountain, etc. a beautiful bar and patio area. Each spot in this place is thought out and beautiful. I LOVE coming to this venue. Even though I’ve been coming for a while, it’s seems like it’s a new and unique experience each time from how ceremonies can be layed out, Down to the decor on each table.
