I love it out here! We come several times a year. This is not a guided tour. You drive through and take as much or as little time as you want. You can pull over in certain spots, camping is allowed, though I'm not sure about the rules on that. We always try to catch the elk bugling and fighting over their harems, but these guys have finished with all that. Usually fighting National Geographic and Discovery for spots to take pics and videos. We take camp chairs and sit on the sides of the road to watch the big guys throwing their...

I got there before sunrise and entered on the North side. It is beautiful and worth the drive. Until I got to the fourth sign with the map (see photo), I didn't know where I was going. The Elk viewing area is closer to the south entrance, but either way is amazing. I head the first bugle almost as soon as I shut off my engine. The herd was small and on the south side of the river, but still an awesome...

I got there before sunrise and entered on the North side. It is beautiful and worth the drive. Until I got to the fourth sign with the map (see photo), I didn't know where I was going. The Elk viewing area is closer to the south entrance, but either way is amazing. I head the first bugle almost as soon as I shut off my engine. The herd was small and on the south side of the river, but still an awesome sight and sound.
