Finch Park — Attraction in Lexington

I love this park! Real, turquoise, pinkish lavender slides, and climbing park equipment, on astroturf. Spinning merry go rounds x2. Walk 20 yards into another shady area (past the low brick wall in the first and last picture), and you arrive at the swings. There are 2 toddler swings on one end. Stable heavy duty swings. Solid playground equipment. Biking trails. A small basketball court as you drive in for anyone wanting to shoot hoops. Shady, to stop the temperature from cooking you while you watch the kids play. Ball parks got baseball games used by little league teams and lighting for same. Park close at 8 or 830. Had outdoor shelter with 4 or 6 picnic tables, and a backdrop of a STAGE, elevated on a rise, left of and above the picnic table area. Clear trails. Clear paths. Mostly free of debris or stones to throw or trip anyone walking. I had been too several night games, and didn't know the rest of the park existed. It has been reworked with an all new, so far well kept play park. The children in my house 2 to 12 beg to go there to play. Also noted many people watching every child. If I couldn't see them, someone else had eyes on them. Mentioning that... It's not cluttered, but there are tunneled slides. And we lost one because my grandson dressed her (coincidentally) completely in the colors of the park we had never seen before. 😂 She blended in. Early, it is warmer, and fewer people. Later it was busy, but very friendly. We have now been a couple of times and plan to make it a regular thing. Take your kids outside. Find a park. They'll have a ball... Oh, yeah... They have a concrete flat area just part the covered bridge you come in on. Large. I saw one child riding her tricycle, on it. And there is a hopscotch painted there, and 4 Square. Other things as well. So. Something...

This place is VERY run down. The only thing “updated” is the blue/purple playground for kids. The place is usually trashy, the restrooms are VERY unkempt, the “workers” don’t do anything but drive around on their little vehicles doing no real work. People have their dogs everywhere here, sometimes aggressive breeds OFF LEASH, & it’s an NC law to require them on a leash, “service animal” or not. People NEED to be more responsible of their dogs, oh, & some are usually NOT picking up their feces, so my mother & I usually play a game of “Dodge the dog crap” on our way to just see the lake/feed the ducks some days. This WAS once a decent park when I was a kid, now it’s like watching your childhood die…literally. This “park” is great…that is, if you don’t care about your kids getting sick on the unclean park equipment, strange men hanging around, some even going into the open door of a WOMENS RESTROOM, seeing trash instead of scenery, & rude people around too. Mother & I see mostly they use this park for ballgames & that’s pretty much it…nothing more. A shame how this park got so run...

I bring my kids to this park because it is a clean and safe park but the last several times I have been, the custodian has been harassing parents. He has yelled and followed parents around making sure they are not using the playground because it’s only for kids ages 5-12. He states that parents are NOT allowed to play and engage with their own kids. Then today he yells and chases after some teenagers saying to get off and then that they can’t play on the soccer field either. He even called 911 and had an officer come out to further harass said teenagers. Something needs to be done because his behavior is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. There is no reason to be rude and disrespectful when family and kids are simply trying to have fun. I will also be calling to leave another formal complaint against...
