I came here this afternoon looking for a new park to explore with my dog. Upon arrival, I could tell that this park was huge! There are plenty of green spaces and empty fields to play frisbee, flag football, or volleyball. I drove to the dog park area since the park is strict on having the dogs on leash at all times, so I went there. The dog parks for both small and large dogs are enormous! I have never seen that size of a dog park since I was in Colorado--and that state is known for being pet friendly, so their parks and restaurants are 90% pet-friendly.

I took my dog to the small dog park as he is small. It was still 4 P.m. and too hot for my dog. There are not a lot of shades in the small dog area compared to the large dog area. I did not stay that long as my dog did not like being grilled under the sun.

I checked out the rest of the park by driving around and noticed a vast playground, a marina (although the water has receded), empty fields, a picnic area, and even a camping area!

If I had come later in the day when it was not too hot for my dog, I would have enjoyed my stay here. I have seen plenty of residents around here with their kids, birthday party groups, and groups playing frisbee. I can tell that it is a great park to...

Very nice dog park, I've taken my Lab mix there quite a few times. I haven't seen an aggressive dog or negligent owner, until this past weekend. Only a few complaints:

This is the dog park, not the playground. If you're going to bring children with you, at least teach them basic manners. I had two small girls, probably five and six, race around me from both sides as I was trying to open the very first gate and ambush my dog trying to pet him. I had to nearly lay over top of him and say several times to not touch him. The mother was still at the top of the road wrestling with their pet. (My lab is a rescue who was SEVERELY abused. He does great with other animals and adults, but not children. Especially when they ambush him from both sides and try to put their hands all over him!)

When it rains the place turns into a huge mud pit. I don't mind my pet getting dirty. However, I would prefer they add more gravel or concrete in front of the gate/water fountain for owners who don't want to slip and slide while their pets play.

There's always a very large turn out every time I've went, and four or five rickety benches are definitely not enough. I usually have to just stand the entire time I'm there. Not very...

My kiddo loves this park! His fav part is that he Loves seeing the ducks! he also loves the splash pad (when its on In the summer, although when the splash pad is on ITS ALWAYS EXTRMELY BUSY and over crowded so I wish they made the splash pad area alot bigger or atleast made one side for the little kids and one for the bigger kids like they did with the playground. Also wish they had more unique features to keep them interested in playing in the water for longer but overall it's nice) & a Big bonus about this park is that the playground equipment looks new compared to other places, so That gives parents alot more reassurance that the kids are playing on safer equipment that isn't old and falling apart like most parks! They have half of the park for little kids and the other half for bigger kids wich is nice so you don't have to worry as much about your toddlers getting pushed down by bigger kids lol. Has lots of empty fileds to play in and kick a ball, fly a kite, have a picnick ECT. They have Alot of other attractions here as well like the paddle boats but we have not done that yet bc our kids...

Jacobson Park in Lexington, Kentucky is a hidden gem for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. The park offers a beautiful, tranquil setting with a large lake and plenty of green spaces for picnics and relaxation. It's a fantastic place for a leisurely stroll, a game of frisbee, or a family day out. The playgrounds and splash pad are perfect for kids, and the well-maintained walking trails are great for a peaceful walk or jog. The park also features a dog park, making it a favorite spot for pet owners. The fishing opportunities on the lake add to the recreational options. While Jacobson Park is a wonderful destination, it can get crowded during weekends and special events, so timing your visit is key for a more peaceful experience. Overall, it's a fantastic place to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature in the heart of Lexington.
