The city of Lexington is doing a great job with this park. The playground is gradually growing and has aspects that encourage kids to use their brains while being physically active. The sightlines at the playground are great. No matter where you're sitting, you can see your child(ren). I like the way this playground is built as opposed to the wooden playground at Shilito because my son would sometimes be in spots where I couldn't see him and it would cause me to momentarily panic. The kiddos love the new splash pad. I appreciate that there's a water faucet there for filling water bottles for people and bowls for the dogs. The playground and splash pad are located a very safe distance off the main road through the park.
There is a large dog park for dogs to run and play. There has been some vandalism of people's cars in that area, even though the parking lot for the dog park is right in front of the area, so be sure to not leave any valuables in your car while you're in the dog park with your fur babies.
The park hosts the annual fair, dog competitions, equestrian events, cross country competitions, soccer games, and much, much more. The city's walking/biking trail also goes through the park, but it always concerns me when my son and I ride our bikes through the park because the cars and bikes share the same main road through the park and cars sometimes don't seem to want to share the road. My advice: if you're in a hurry, don't go to a park where children and pets are playing. Instead, just stay on New Circle Road with the rest of the lunatics. 🤣
Overall, this is a great park and I look forward to seeing how it grows in the coming years. I highly recommend visiting it if you're looking for a place to exercise and enjoy some time together as a family or for a peaceful...

Read moreLexington, the horse capitol of the 🌎 (world) Tucked in beside the picturesque farms spread distantly between the peaceful meadows and gentle, rolling hills that comprise this natural beauty of the Commonwealth, we know as the "Bluegrass," you will find a perfect example of everything mentioned above - where the natural beauty and temperate climate of the state meets and perfectly fits with the majesty of equestrian sports: THE MASTERSON STATION HORSE PARK.
At one entrance, photographed with my review, you have the equestrian areas, for trainings and watching the horses. On the other end of the park, the Leestown Road side, you'll find a children's playground, tons of wide open space, a massive area to play the mobile Augmented Reality games; Pokémon GO and Ingress, a huge area devoted to soccer fields (dozens) and a massive dog park, along with gazebos, and everything else you'd hope a destination park, like Masterson Station Park, does! I love to go and photograph the horses in the morning, and it's great place to get out and stretch your legs by taking a walk or run, EVEN WITH or without your dog! 5 ☆'s.
Note: Remember the road is a through way, so you can drive it 24/7, but the actual park closes at dark like the rest of Lexington's public parks! Enjoy safely!!
