This is a small park that Google Maps makes slightly difficult to find by leading us to the entrance to a cul de sac of a housing development. In fact, there are two small parking areas. One is near the Johnson and Berkshire. We parked at other one on Summer near Lowell. We stopped here for the first time last weekend. We covered most of it in about an hour.
This is not a particularly attractive park though it is interesting. There are what seemed to be unusually tall trees. There is a pond and a few vernal pools at the moment. The terrain transitions between dirt and mud and rocks.
Coming in from the south, the trail was straight and fairly well marked and flat. Heading to and from the Summit, the trail varies with rock terrain to meander around. There is a view with a canopy of trees going for miles. Hardly a rooftop to be found anywhere and a nice reward for an easy to slightly moderate hike.
The trail markers to and from the summit were confusing. Even though there are just a few trails, it wasn't always clear when you are heading further into the park or back where you came from.
I was very disappointed to see how poorly other visitors are treating this location. Along the first half-mile, we found dog waste left behind in plastic bags in 3 different areas. Another half-mile later, another pile without the bag. No doubt this will deter some from visiting but hopefully shame others to being more...

they had qr codes to the trail maps not even just posted at the entrances, but along the trails too for those that might've ignored it and went in thinking they could find their way around.
this seems like such a great idea to me, especially for guys like me that might be overconfident at first but realize as they get in deeper that it's pretty big in there, with multiple trails and ways to go
beautiful scenery, I particularly enjoyed all the sturdy and stable bridges they've built along the trails over wash outs and muddy spots
does it pay well to be a woodland carpenter? the guys that did the bridges for these trails certainly...
Read moreA very nice place for a walk. The central feature of this park is a pond that is surrounded by hills. The path is not too busy, but you will meet people with dogs. (Be sure and bring some dog treats because once given food the dogs are delightful nincompoops who are glad to spend some time with you.) We generally hike up the hills. They are pretty steep so once at the top, it is pretty solitary. The trails are just dirt, so we consider it too muddy after a rain. The trails adjoin Wright-Locke farms, so you are welcome to wander over there to look at the fenced goats and so forth. Aug 2022 Pond is now mud. The birds ate all the frogs: now they are...
