Spectacular vistas and so much beauty that I was so thankful that I was not the driver! My head was swiveling side to side in an effort not to miss a thing! Lake Pend O'Reille changed from swamp to deep water then back again in non-stop breath-taking beauty. The mountains viewed across the lake from the road reminded me of the islands that we could see from Maui... Huge, straight up heights covered in bold green! With skies that would not end! What an awesome day, ending with our crossing Kootenai River Bridge to visit the owner of Kootenai River Outfitters and pick fruit from the abundance of his personal orchard. Will not ever...

My wife grew up in Coeurd'alene, in Kootenai county ! she is always ready to describe the breathtaking beauty of the area she was her entire childhood until age 15. She tells me how lucky she feels to have grown up there, all thanks to her awesome mom! She praises her bravery for intentionally raising two children in a place with such grace, natural surroundings. We were poor but never lacked in love and closeness to her brother and mother , 3 against the world . I hope to someday have the $ to take her back up there , she says I'd never want to leave !,. (Anyone hiring...

We stayed at Graves creek campground and was a great experience. Perfect for getting away from the noise and into the wilderness. The campground is small with 5 very large spaces to set up. There's one relatively clean toilet area that was in need of tp, by the end of the weekend. We're not too sure how often rangers come through the area to check on things. The river offers soothing white noise at night. There's also containers to lock up food stuff to keep it away from bears and critters.

Visiting the Kootenai Bridge was on my bucket list. And it was 100% worth the drive to get there and see the bridge and the falls. Kootenai country is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been too, and I live in Montana so that is saying something. The bridge of course is not for the faint of heart but completely worth crossing. It's even funner in the wind. The river is amazingly beautiful and super fast.
