My wife and I recently had the pleasure of visiting the airplane museum in Liberal, Kansas, and I felt compelled to extend our heartfelt thanks for the remarkable experience.
From the moment we stepped into the museum, we were captivated by the extensive collection and the rich history each piece carried. However, our visit was made truly special when we had the good fortune to meet Bob. Your passion for aviation history and your enthusiasm as you shared your favorite exhibits and stories made our visit extra special.
I also wanted to express how impressed we were with the museum's potential as an educational resource. It struck us that this would be an incredible stop for anyone on a trip through the area, offering a unique and engaging experience. Additionally, the museum seems like an ideal destination for school field trips, where children can learn and be inspired by the wonders of aviation.
Thank you once again for making our visit so memorable. We look forward to returning in the future and will certainly recommend the museum to...
Read moreWe found this gem of a museum as part of the Harvest Host program, and glad we did. The museum is vast, and packed full of aircraft - private and military. Topical displays about air flow, hot air balloons, space, 9/11, and other aeronautical topics can be found throughout the museum as well as interactive exhibits that illustrate aviation concepts. There is a childrens' area we didn't spend time in, but it also have interactive activities. The outdoor planes are fairly worn and in need of TLC, but interesting nonetheless. The gift shop is great! Prices are accessible and the items offered for sale are varied.
As a veteran, my whole party got in for free, so we made sure to thank them by making a gift shop purchase.
I hope to visit again - wonderful place, friendly staff - oh, and clean...

As we were getting ready to leave, we asked if a volunteer was available. The new Museum Curator introduced himself and gave us a personal tour. He also explained the changes they were going to be making in the future. One of the special planes on hand was Burt Rutan Starship Enterprise. This was the first Composite all glass cockpit display. I marveled when this plane was introduced. Now look how many commercial airplanes have the same things. The Highlight was he allowed my wife and me inside it. What a truly...
