I moved away approximately 7 years ago to Colorado for work. I grew up in Jackson, and MacCready reserve has been a haven for peace, quiet, and natural connection. A few years ago, this place was in danger of losing its protected status. A few years ago we all collectively fought to ensure this beautiful and rare place remained accessible to the public. The natural wonders that reside here humble me every time. The fen alone is my highlight. I love that we have one of the rarest wetland biomes just sitting here in the midst of beauty and untouched nature. Sure this place was for farming once many years ago, but the family gave this land to the community around them. I can only hope MSU and my fellow Michiganders will continue to preserve, study, and protect this sacred place. This is our home. I love it. Thank you for allowing us to experience it.

An extremely awesome place with beauty and magnificence. The trails are perfect for a nice, long walk if interested! Or you can do one of the shorter loops and make it pretty quick. During this time of year (Fall), the colors of the foliage make it an even more beautiful place to wander about. Additionally, there is plenty of wildlife such as birds, deer, and more to view here! Get out and enjoy the natural wonder that MacCready offers.

What a beautiful place. Make sure to use bug spray tho. As others say in reviews. Trails are marked, but make no sense due to the colors are not correct. Very hilly terrain almost reminds me of hiking up north or out west. Very quite and peaceful, and plenty of wildlife.

Wonderful place to hike. Weather not the best when I went but it was beautiful anyway. Saw a deer before I was on the trail for 5 minutes. Trails were in good shape and well marked. I just wandered and ended up doing quite a bit of hiking on the blue trail (said to be the most difficult.) Personally, I didn't think it was bad at all--some hills but nothing terrible, but I hike regularly so it might prove more challenging to novice hikers. Thankfully there are three levels so there's something for everyone. Will...

The Nature Reserve has some great trails. On the wall facing the parking lot near the entrance there is a trail map posted with some distances. None of the trails are particularly difficult but they are all well maintained, are marked at sensible intervals and at all forks/diversions. The views are great, too. It's never too crowded but there are usually some friendly people hiking, taking pictures, or walking dogs. I go running there with my wife - and the trails are totally...
