It's a great place to go for a small hike. Lots of deer flies or horse flies however you want to put it and mosquitoes You kind of want to go when it's very sunny outside and warm if it's overcast they're coming out to get you. As for the wildflowers a few signs pointed out where flowers were supposed to be or a plant was supposed to be. But no pictures so you had no idea what you were looking at amongst the groups of weeds or wildflowers so that part of it we didn't care for very much. At the area where you can see the route and every trail that's around a little lake They did have some pictures of flowers but not as many as were pointed out on the trail. If this is a club that runs this trail I think they need members that care just a little bit more about what's going on. I'm sure this would have been a great place to go in October when the bugs start dying down and the temperatures aren't so high we had a good one walk very flat easy to follow even with a bad hip. Sorry for the rambling sometimes I get...
Read moreLovely place. Interesting history behind the park, it's the only National Wildflower Sanctuary in the US. About 2.5 miles of loop trails. There's a cultural trail to learn the history of the place. Best time for the wildflower trail would be early April and then summer to catch the ephemeral spring flowers and then the summer flowers. There's a connector trail to NCT to the North and Diamond Lake County park campground to the South. Loda Lake itself is a great spot to just sit and watch and listen...

I will be back in May for more.... May 23, 2024 I told you... The T. Arbutus were not in bloom but larger and that is good. Also found 2 Pink LS's and some Starflowers. There is a large grouping of Columbine near the parking...
