Our condo lease in Vineyard expired a month before my employment did, and we wanted to stay close by for that period of time. We had just moved into our RV, preparing for full-time RVing and needed a place to stay. We wanted to stay at Lakeshore, but all of the online details stated that since it was a state park, we could only stay for 14 days in any given calendar month. We searched and searched for something affordable and finally just called Lakeshore to talk to the manager. He granted us an exception to stay the four weeks which we greatly appreciated!! Additionally, when the day came to check out, we weren't quite ready by noon, and that was not an issue either.
Additionally, anytime our children came to visit, they were allowed in for free by stating our site number. Also, our extra vehicle was free to park there, as well.
From the get-go, I was super impressed with the campground/marina and loved the view of the lake and the beautiful sunsets each evening. The campground is well maintained, while preserving the natural ecosystem of Utah Lake. Amenities included laundry, showers, canoe, kayak, paddle boat, and paddle board rentals, fishing, a beach area, and a general store. Additionally, the lake trail runs right behind the campground, which I had already been walking for several years.
I would recommend this campground/marina to any and all campers and boaters. It is more affordable than any other campground in Utah County. Rates for full hook ups are only $50 a night and $35 a night for electric only. There is an on site dump station, too.
The beach/picnic area is nice for small parties and gatherings. Fire pits, picnic tables, restrooms, and more!
Note: The mayflies are a given in Vineyard. They don't bite, they don't live very long, they are just a part of the Utah Lake ecosystem. Deal with it. Better...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I had an extremely difficult day today, not to mention it had been storming all day. My girlfriend wanted to pull over on the side of the road to take a picture of the lake because the sun was finally coming back up. This view was breathtaking and made her smile for the first time today. I had her pull over barely passing the stop sign entrance. Before she could even get out of the car, a woman angrily approached her and told her she wasn’t allowed to be parked on the side of the road and that if she was smart she would go two minutes away and find the same view. My girlfriend kindly explained she only wanted to take one picture because it was so gorgeous and that she would leave immediately after. The lady raised her voice and demanded her to get back in her car and leave immediately. We hadn’t even been there for 3 minutes. This woman had no grace. She wasn’t dressed in uniform and was talking as if my girlfriend had responded terribly (she told the worker to have a good day and got back in the car to avoid any more aggression). My girlfriend and I both work in sales and customer service. This is no way to act to a stranger who is only trying to appreciate the beautiful scenery in Utah. We didn’t engage at the time because she was being dramatically rude. It was childish. Seems as if this has happened to multiple people before probably with the same lady. Obviously was a woman who has no control over her behavior and anger. It felt like a very unhappy person projecting her baggage onto us for the 1 minute interaction we had with her. If I were business owner of this company I would seriously reevaluate and see if this worker is a good face/representation/reflection of my company...
Read moreWhen I first came to Utah Valley in 1974 the idea of recreation in Utah Lake would have brought laughter. It's a fairly shallow lake and the valley winds keep it stirred up. The pollution levels from decades of steel production rendered it unfit for human recreation. In the evening we would sometimes watch the giant carp sunning on the surface as the cleanest spot where the Provo River emptied into the lake. Fast Forward 35 years. Most of the time, most of the lake is fit for boating, skiing and fishing. After living just a few miles from a wonderful lake in Oregon, we had been concerned that our closest lake would be 50 miles away. On our fist adventure we used the Utah State Park west of Provo, but I discovered the Lindon Marina on Google Maps and we thought we would give it a try. It was perfect for our family. We are three generations combining those who want to see how fast their personal watercraft can go to those that only want to wade ankle deep at the sandy beach. There were trees providing shade on the shoreline and enough room to spread out. We're looking forward to 2017 as the grandchildren grow up enough to ride the tubes and water skis. I'm excited that I have children who can do all the launch and recovery while I sit in the shade or paddle in the shallows with the little ones. This place is a fantastic find and close enough for quick trips in the afternoons after work or on the weekends for a last...
