We just moved to the area this summer and Big Surf was a great little escape for us to get out to the pool and have relaxing afternoons. The wave pool is always our favorite with the lazy river coming in second. The rides are fun for kids 6-7 & up. They do have a kiddie pool area for the smaller kids though in case you need it. Life jackets are free. You do have to pay to rent tubes for the wave pool whether you are a season pass holder or not and you don’t get a discount which Is a bummer. The food is not good unless your starving. It’s better to picnic at the outside area they have and then enter the park after lunch. They have lockers if you need one and you can get a season locker pass. The restrooms are not the cleanest but also not the worst. I recommend to bring flip flops or water shoes to avoid any fungi exposure. You will want to bring lots of sunscreen because there is not much shade unless you rent a cabana. You’ll need your own towels. It’s no smoking and no revealing suits so you don’t have to worry about those things. Overall it’s a very fun outing!

I’m a big fan of water parks and what they have to offer. Usually, water parks offer a place to relax and get wet and be a child again. This water park made me feel ripped off and gloomy. There were not that many rides to go on, and even then some of them provided more worry than fun. Example of this is the long concrete water tube that workers keep pushing you down, if someone isn’t paying attention, someone’s leg or ankle could smack against the concrete side wall. Another issue we experienced were the umbrella shades, multiple umbrellas were just ripping and blowing away with small gusts of wind. Our umbrella tore and it became a nuisance to be under so we had to be under the sun with no shade. The sand volleyball court was underwhelming as the sand was filled with gravel and rocks, the net wasn’t up, and the length for the net was too short to put up anyways. There was also a ladder out there but didn’t provide any assistance since the net was too short to reach the pole. The ping pong table was just a concrete table and its net was torn. The smoking area was just stairs up from the main chair and hangout area. The food was expensive and luke warm, mainly overpriced and took a long time. The plus side to this place was the length of the lazy river and the toilet bowl styled water ride. I couldn’t really find much more positives to here.

We went here for the 4th of July. It was clean enough, but the staff were absolutely ridiculously rude. (Aside from the snack shack) there was hardly any shade. They had tents you could rent in advance, but the cost for admission alone was outrageous. We even went at 3pm to save some money. It was still over 50.00 for me and my daughter. No outside drinks or food. We sat our stuff down at a table with an umbrella by the kiddie area and people literally just put their stuff over ours, I rushed over there, she said sorry I just had to sit down. 🙄 The establishment itself seemed fairly clean. I didn't check out the shower or 🚻. So I'm not sure about those. But, everything was expensive, a tourist trap or not it's over priced. I'm a local, and this was only my 2nd time going here. The last time I had been to big surf was when I was like 6. We weren't impressed and we probably won't be going back. Each to their own.

Arrived at 10:15 with our 4 year (under 48” tall) on a busy summer weekend to discover the only kid slides are closed. Spoke to the lifeguard at the pool and the lifeguard at the lazy river who said they didn’t have enough staff for the slides. I ended up speaking to lifeguard nick and manager nick neither of which cared. And even though there were numerous groups of lifeguards standing around in groups talking on our way to the kid area they both assured me they had no staff. We were not told the kid slides were closed when arriving and lifeguard nick told me “good luck” when I asked him where I go to get a refund. First and last time at this place. 11:30 and the kid slides are still closed.

We come at least two times. This year it was hard to justify the price for what you get. For two people it was $80+. That is just to get in the door. If you want a tube or shade, you have to pay extra. Considering everything looks unkept and falling apart, it's definitely not worth it. Concrete pieces off the lazy pool, the wave pool is full of paint chips because the walls are chipping too. The food is so expensive. You can't bring food or drinks, so I'm stuck paying $3 a water bottle and waiting in an unmoving line on a 90°+ day. Re-living childhood memories isn't worth it anymore. We'll be taking our hard earned money elsewhere.
