These are my personal impressions of these trails and your own research should be done!!
Redbird off-road park trails as I experienced them :first one is trail #5 , this trail is a fantastic trail for a person new to off roads with what I call normal challenges like hills , dips and a little off camber but is doable: #3 is also as 5 is and test your skill level a little different way but still is doable : #5 and #3 should be done with someone but could be done solo if you’re very careful!
Now we come to two trails that should never be done alone because of the increase of lost of body parts and or your own life ! 2 x is a extremely hard trail with steep hills and tight turns for the entirely of this trail and a winch is definitely a must and will require it a lot !!! You will pretty much be winching most the way through this trail ; slow and steady is the only way as I see it and have good friends that will help .
Ok ; # 3x this trail is showing red but with consensus of us that ran this one it should be rated black do to very steep hills , extremely tight 90 degrees turns and points on the trail that could cause severe damage to your vehicle and yourself!,
In conclusion: I was using my 2021 rubicon unlimited 392 with full skid plates and a 10,000 warn winch and using KO3 Goodrich tire 315/70r/17 with no lift .NR Jeep. I would always recommend having friends or people with you on any trails, yes I have done many solo but there will be times but others must be there for many reasons. Could I ran #5 and 3 solo ? Yes most likely but there were times I would have thought I should have someone with me! 2X and 3 X definitely NOT solo due to the facts that I mentioned above! Enjoy the outdoors and respect the trails and others on the trails and you’ll have a fantastic...
Read moreReviewed having taken in The Badlands in Attica the week before, and I'm in a very capable SUV as long as things aren't too rutted out or littered with oil pan killers.... So I can't speak for the single-track trails. Trail rating system is pretty nice and I quickly learned there's quite a difference between the easy green and intermediate blue... And also that the Most Difficult black and Extreme red trails require a serious rig. You can about drive a Camry on the green trails (maybe not through all of it but it was pretty easy) and the intermediate stuff had tight passages and required a little ground clearance. In about 6-7 hours total, I had driven every green trail twice or more and all the blue trails at least once... Plus backed out of a couple black trails. Compared to The Badlands, I felt like I had tried everything I wanted to try at Redbird in that time, even though it's a larger overall area. I also feel like most of The Badlands would fall under Easy or Intermediate on the Redbird scale, Redbird had more rock crawling and exposed tree roots and very rutted out tracks to impede progress.
One other difference, The Badlands were crowded the day I went, Redbird was empty by comparison... Like don't count on someone coming by shortly if you get hung up. Maybe it was just that day.
Enjoyed it, plus they weren't charging the normal, very affordable $15 to get in the day I was there. But I think The Badlands give you more variety and...
Read moreWe woke up early and drove 5hrs to go here and it was "okay" for a day of fun & something to do. I appreciate the state for having these locations however many trails were super pitted and muddy (even though we're basically in a drought r.n.). We have a 4 seat RZR and the harder trails were harder to navigate due to the size of the smaller trails and overgrowth. We rode around for approximately 5 hours but then got a tad bored by doing the same ones. The green seem to be more intermediate like you'd expect from the blue ones. There's not many blue to begin with but some are better than the green ones. It's then a big jump up to the black and red trails. There's definitely a bunch of tiny up and down play on areas that are between 2 trails but not a "bunch" of trails per se. The good thing is the passes are good for Redbird and Interlake which is only a tad over an hour away. So if you buy a 2 day pass but want a change of pace you can also go to Interlake. Overall it was a great value for a day of fun at $15 a vehicle. The facilities were pit toilets and were clean. There's an actual toilet w/running water at the guard shack. There's 2 parking lots through the main gate and a parking lot just down the road that is a very large gravel one w/facilities there also and trails that connect back to...
