I have been to Sweetwater Creek State Park a number of times and each time is as pleasant as the last. It's always beautiful, always well kept and always has something for everyone. My friend and I went this morning and upon our visit we encountered an injured baby raccoon. We reported it to the visitors center staff and Ranger Adrian Fox came to our rescue, let me first start by saying that her name is not only the perfect name for a superhero but she actually is one. She assured us that we did the right thing by going against all of our desires to save the adorable little guy but also that what a lot of people don't know is if any wild animal causes injury to a human that they will have to be put down in order to determine if they have rabies and other diseases. She referred to an incredible article written by Ivan Illich, in the importance of not making the decision that may come from a completely well intended place that has extremely unintended consequences. This Ranger went above and beyond to not only educate us but also to share her appreciation for doing the right thing not the impulsive "do gooder" thing. She even took our numbers down so she could update us on the outcome - I will edit this once that happens . Adrian Fox is my new favorite Ranger and I just hope that she knows how appreciated she is. She is phenomenal at her job and a true gem, I look forward to returning to Sweetwater for many years to come and I hope that she is there, because while she is around I know the park is in the absolute most capable, caring hands possible. Bravo Superhero Fox, Bravo. And also if you read this, thank you so much for the article recommendation I will also be recommending it to my...

Have been here twice now and the team working there is very helpful in providing info and suggestions for hiking routes. If you have a group you may be able to coordinate a private ranger tour inside the mill ruins fence for $5-10 dollars a person. Nice museum and small gift shop. Restrooms well maintained. Parking can get full on nice days, even during the week, but people rotate in and out all the time so wait should not be...

I visit a lot of state and national parks. I rate this one among the worst. Many trails were closed. Poor signage. Lots of dead ends. And when we ended up relaxing by the ruins a ranger came and started yelling at us that we need to leave the park right away. Middle aged white, almost blonde mustache. Very aggressive and offensive. It can be a nice...

It’s taken me years but I finally made it to Sweetwater Creek State Park. I opted for this hike to take the weenie with me thanks to its lower elevation and variety of trails. 🥾We did the red and yellow trail. 🥾Take the red trail to observe the textile mill ruins - the mill was destroyed by union troops during the Civil War. The area was previously home to the Cherokee. 🥾15 miles of hiking trails on the 2500 acre state park 🥾Perfect for camping, paddling, and fishing. There are even yurts on site to rent out 🥾I definitely want to go back in the spring time to see the meadows and wildflowers in bloom #gastateparks #exploregeorgia #atlanta #thingstodoinatlanta #lithiasprings
