If you want to relax with your family, drink wine, and eat good food, DONT GO HERE!
Good evening! Today we visited your vineyard for the 6th year in a row excluding the cursed year of 2020. I was extremely confused when I sent my family to the outdoor seating area and they were run down by a staff member in a go cart checking bags. I was on my way to the barn to buy a couple bottles of wine for the afternoon. Upon my return to our group I was informed that the staff member said you wouldn’t allow outside food on the premises.
This was a disappointment because we had brought some of our favorite picking foods and cheeses to enjoy with your wine but we tried to make the best of it. The staff ensured us that we could purchase only your food so we made our way back to the barn only to find Sysco quality pre packaged gas store cheese platters and sandwiches. Without purchasing anything and still be hungry we made our way back to the sitting area and tried to finish the bottle that we purchased and was opened already. It was during our sipping that we witnessed many other groups being run off because they too like us wanted to sit and enjoy the afternoon without being hassled about bringing a few snacks to have with wine.
There was even a mother pushing a stroller with a baby inside and carrying a smaller cooler tote with the babies formula and rice cereal that when she explained what was in it security still requested to search it. They left shortly after that. I wish I could say that was the last of it but it wasn’t. On a side note porter potties for bathrooms, come on.
Soon my kids got hungry enough and asked if we could leave. They are still young and I had packed them peanut butter sandwiches that they knew were waiting for them in the car parked 20 ft away.
I guess to get to my point. Understandable you want people to only purchase things on site. But please if you enforce rules like this make sure you have decent quality products for everyone and maybe not hassle people so much as to get run down by a go cart as your exiting your car. You have a beautiful facility and I remember when Carolyn would be behind the bar giving samples of wine. I personally loved the place but now it feels like you don’t actually want people to come and enjoy themselves.
I look forward to visiting the area next year as tradition, however we will not be back to...
Read moreWhile the grounds of this vineyard are stunning and their wine was good, their service was lacking. A group of ten of us went to the vineyard intending to do a wine tasting at the vineyard. We emailed the vineyard ahead of time to see if we could make a reservation for a wine tasting since we had a rather large group, however, we received an email back claiming that they did not offer reservations for the wine tastings. So that was fine with us, we just figured that we would go there and do the tasting, even if there was a wait. We then get there and go to buy tickets and are told that we cannot buy tickets for the tasting because the tasting bar has too many people at it at the moment. The woman then tells us to check back in twenty minutes as they sell tickets on a first come, first serve basis and that you can't purchase tickets ahead of time. The woman then suggests we buy a bottle of wine, so we do. After twenty minutes passes by, someone from our party goes back up to check if we are able to do the tasting and we are given the same runaround. This same thing happens about two more times. At this point we have already purchased a few bottles of wine and are now fed up. Someone from our group then goes back up and demands an answer about the wine tasting. The women at the counter then says that because we have a large group (10 people) we should have made a reservation. The person from our group then proceeds to tell the woman at the counter that we emailed the vineyard and were told that they don't take reservations. The woman at the counter then offers one commemorative wine glass for the inconvenience after some back and forth. This place clearly cares more about being more commercialized and concerned with making money then they care about people enjoying their vineyard and having a good time. They essentially bully you into buying bottles of wine because the tastings are always full. Mind you, our group of ten purchased a total of 6 bottles of their wine and did our own tasting. It was just frustrating to see the same few people at the tasting bar the entire time we were there. They should sell tickets for the tastings with set times written on them and offer new tastings each hour so they can rotate new groups into the tasting, so that the same people don't stay up at the tasting bar the entire time. Just a frustrating experience to...

New management took over in late June 2024; this has resulted in a wholesale transformation. New sommelier Matt has infused a surge of overwhelming passion and immense knowledge into Sakonnet Vineyard, and all of the employees have become infected.
My wife and I visited this evening and were blown away by the wine AND food. This amazing experience was enhanced by the amazing Cassandra! She is friendly, knowledgeable, and impossibly charming. This treasure ensured that we had the perfect wine to pair with each dish. How great is she? I described my affinity for Spanish, Italian, and Argentinian wine, and she recommended two amazing wines that conspired with my meal (also her suggestion) to create a transcendent sensory and gustatory experience. Cassandra, if you ever need a bodyguard, please let me know because I would literally take bullets for you.
The rest of the staff is also friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Brenden and Cassi also made our experience immensely enjoyable. I implore everyone to stop by and see what this local treasure...
