Beautiful park, well maintained. Lots of wildlife, pretty cool to see the eagles nest and them flying around. The Platte River trail meanders through the park and offers a perfect way to see nature, the viewing platform that looks out over the lake is nice. Not a busy area, at least on a Sunday morning.

Beautiful park, well maintained. Lots of wildlife, pretty cool to see the eagles nest and them flying around. The Platte River trail meanders through the park and offers a perfect way to see nature, the viewing platform that looks out over the lake is nice. Not a busy area, at least on a Sunday morning.

Very nice Wildlife Refuge, if small. Off the beaten path east of Little Falls, but I decided to stop by on my way further north. Very nice overlook platform, and wide gravel trail along the river. There is a shorter interpretive trail for kids near the platform (looked like counter-clockwise was the way to walk it), as well as an info kiosk and outhouse near the overlook parking. Only one other vehicle in the parking lot at 8:30 AM on a Saturday, so expect peace and quiet if you visit! I did not go to the headquarters building, so not sure what is there (drinking water, visitors...

Great National Refuge. Wonderful trails with loops so you can take short or longer walk. It also takes you through different types of areas, woodlands, grassy area, by River or lake. They groom trails in winter for cross country skiing. Also have great educational programs...all free. Don't...

Great little refuge!!! I did the whole loop on a May afternoon - there is a lot of sunny areas so probably wouldn't go when it was super hot. But the tree where just leafing out & seen lots of wonderful birds. Path was nicely maintained & mostly flat. Couple resting benches along the way & 2...
