Quick word of caution, if there has been a lot of rain, getting to this park could be a little difficult. There is a creek that goes right over the road into the park and when I say right over I mean over the road. Playground is new and really fun, very little shade on the actual playground, but plenty all around it. There is a small creek nearby, so probably don't let young kids wander too far. There are a lot of picnic areas near the playground and throughout the park. It is a little bit rougher part of town, so I wouldn't recommend going dusk and after. There is a public restroom, but I can't vouch for it's safety or cleanliness. The skatepark is really not for beginners, in fact, I would really not recommend beginners use it too much, because it could cause problems to those who are there to really practice. The pickleball courts are really nice and quite a few games can be played all at the same time. There are also some really nice spots to take family, and individual pictures. Overall a...
Read moreWell its Kanis Park so expect to see homeless people, the occasional drunks here and there, and then the gunshots from across the way. If you're their during daylight, it's a very joyful place full of life and construction. If you decide to visit at night, you can see a plethora of skaters having a good time. Occasionally they'll make food and if you're willing to contribute you can eat so that's pretty cool. Their building a new playground right now which looks good and walking trails along with a good baseball field. You can fish if you want, skate, play ball(baseball, football due to construction the basketball courts have been removed for the time being), have a cookout or just do fun stuff at the park. Great place to take your kids in daytime. Dont let them bring bikes or scooters in too big of an excess to the skate park, us skaters don't like that too much. Aside from that plan something there, you'll enjoy yourself and bring OFF because the mosquitoes are back and...
Read moreThis review is for the SKATEPARK portion of Kanis Park.
This place is a gem and should be enjoyed as much as possible. Absolutely worth the trip if you are in the region!
This skatepark is, basically, in four sections: the original part, an expanded second part (with a large pool), a half pipe, and then a second (and smaller) pool that's behind the skate park. The older and newer sections are linked together - which you can see on the satellite view. Lots of benches throughout and there's a covered seating area.
Concrete in the original section is rough, but still good to skate. New section has smooooth concrete. Pools are smooth too, just need a good sweeping.
The locals are also a highlight. Friendly, helpful, respectful, and active with taking care of their park (and each other).
Even with 10+ people skating around, there's plenty of room and plenty to do. Little Rock is very lucky to have Kanis. HIGHLY...
