Nice trail, well marked. Have $5 cash to park on the Tripoli road side. For me, this isnot dog recommended, I wouldn't bring my doing who has done a few 4k footers with us. The trail to me at least, was rockier than some other 4k footers done so far, which is why I think not the greatest for a dog. Steady but not too steep climb to Mt. Osceola, great views towards presidentals and waterville valley (see pics). Hike from Osceola to East Osceola though is allot steeper. If you brought your dog to do Osceola, I'd really reconsider trying to take them to east Osceola. It's only a mile, but a bit more demanding as that one mile covers an approx 600' drop between them and you have to get past the "chimney" (a 20' or so rock cliff with decent hand holds about half way between the 2; there is a little less steep bypass if you don't want to scale the cliff). East Osceola has no view at all, totally enclosed in trees. Only reason to do it is if your doing the 48 4k footers, you want to climb the "chimney", or you're through hiking from or to the kangamangus. Overall, do it...
Read moreThe trail is in great condition as of today 1st June 2025, considering we are having late snow and rain this year. The trek to Mount Osceola from the trail head is a moderate and a steady incline to the top. The trail is wet and the rock slabs were wet as well, however the rock gripped well. There were some rocks that were slippery because of moss and flowing water. The traverse between mount Osceola and the east peak was difficult with the chimney being a 90 degree vertical small climb. There is an alternative route bypassing it if needed, we used this one for the dog. There are no views on the east peak but the hike is steep. The views from Mount Osceola were amazing and worth it. 5$ parking is required, the parking lot was full when we arrived at 9:30 am but you can park on the roadside. There were a lot of crowd on the trail. Be careful with the footing while descending...
Read moreIts a great day hike. You start your trek up to Osceola then you can complete East Osceola. The trail from Osceola to East Osceola is a little difficult. There is a location that can be seen to the left when you are at the Osceola summit, it looks like a rock wall, and you have to hike through it to get to E. Osceola. Its called "the chimney" but the hike is worth it. On the way to E. Osceola, you can take the path to the left at the fork which is the simpler of the two. The views at Osceola are beautiful, there are no views at East though. Our group completed the trek in 7 hours with breaks and...
