Came here on a field trip with my kids' class and had a wonderful time. They learned what life was like as a kid in the 1870s, how to make butter biscuits, and learned about the history of the Washburn family. The smell of the woodstove brought back memories of the time I came here when I was in 5th grade. I would definitely come back!

What a magical day I passed at Norlands. April, the curator, was so kind, passionate, and informative, and the grounds are kept as original as is safely allowed which makes for such a transformative visit where you feel you have stepped back in time to meet these amazing trailblazers who lived here. 5 stars. 10/10.

Really glad I came across this place. I ended up getting a private tour for about an hour with a very poised young lady who was well-versed in the ins and outs of the family history. The house features a fair amount of original furnishings and other historical artifacts. Well worth a visit in my opinion.

It was great until an abusive jerk threw a plate at my breakfast table and dropped the f-bomb with kids in the dining room. As I saw Momma(?) frantically scurrying about to make his table perfect all I could think of is the horror that family goes through at home since he was such a bully to throw a plate at strangers. I pray he begins a relationship with The Lord and repents of his ways, in...

Enjoyed a historical walk of the grounds guided by two local high school students. This was followed by a 4 course meal, farm to table, and conversation around the table with "General Washburn" and a fellow soldier Tom (high school age). Both were full of knowledge and quite interesting. The hostess, a descendant of The Washburn's, was very hospitable and gave a very informative tour...

A true step back in time, with links to Wisconsin and Minnesota. Still under restoration in different parts but open to the public. The history of those who lived there was very interesting and quite unique. Of those of you who are interested in the past and how it created the present do not hesitate to visit. Also check their...
