The Pine Creek Falls hike is within the grasp of most healthy folks of all ages. Children enjoy it as well as we older ones of the mid-60's age range. The waterfall is a treat, and the area around it is a nice place to picnic and take a rest before either heading up to Pine Creek Lake (a little more challenging of a hike) or going back down the trail. A bridge just below the falls gives a nice view and a great spot for pictures. We enjoy taking visitors on this hike and all have enjoyed it, though folks from lower elevations may need to stop a time or two to catch their breath if they are a little older or out of shape. Read moreGorgeous & relatively strenuous (short though) hike to Pine Creek Falls, 1 big creek crossing with an awesome bridge, and two other smaller crossings. Super cool, very fun, massive tripping hazard though, please be careful if you are on the less coordinated side! Done this hike in winter & summer and is beautiful both ways! If you want more of a climb at the end, if you cross the creek twice (Once over the log bridge, then over the log jams) the trail continues up to the lake and black mountain, if you follow that another 1/2 miles or so up switchbacks, it takes you to the top of the falls! Be careful, do not be dumb, people have died...
Read moreGreat hike! My watch clocked the loop (from the sign below to the falls and back) at 2.78 miles; elevation 5940. We took our time and stopped in different places to take it all in. You can continue on to the lake but we chose to go back. Early August is around 50° at 7:30 am so take a sweatshirt. The trail is rocky in places but overall a really beautiful...
