4.5 stars. This is a perfect example how a winery should be run. Not a tourist factory, small personalized service. Sorry no grand building here, but cozy pond and simple patios to enjoy. Feels like a real home to relax at. Wines are quite above average for area, though no true home runs stood out on menu. Just solid drinkable wine, most with soft entry and mouthfeel. Even came with small food samples which no other winery had that we visited. Zins were decent, however the Chard and Sauv Blanc (skin on fermentation) were the most interesting. Winemaker certainly has a decent talent.
One thing to note, they do only Estate Zin. All others on menu were out the area grapes. Now some people might be annoyed about that but I would rather you grow what grows good here (Zins) and not force grapes to grow where they dont do well rather than say "we have ALL ESTATE wine" and half the wines are lackluster due to the wrong climate/soils. So many wineries today were trying to pull off local Viognier and it was horrendous! Yes these were Napa whites at Stonum but that's because they know the soil/heat cant support them. Also, dont come to Lodi looking for overextracted, high alcohol, high residual sugar Zins like Rombauer. These are Old World style dry restrained Zins true to the varietal flavor profile which is a nice change of pace sometimes. Prices were slightly higher than others in area but quality is as well. Fathers day free...
Read moreWe had a horrible experience with one of the owners, she's young and inherit her family's business and has no idea how to run it. We had bought tickets for the Luau. First off we got no confirmation of our purchase, nothing was not emailed to us, Secondly, they change the time of the luau just days before of the event, third, They wrote down my phone number wrong! so I got no call of the time change, it was supposed to be at 4pm but it got change to 3pm, so we were an hour late at no fault of our own. Owner was not apologetic. She even had the audacity to tell us we didn't missed much. We were not offer a extra complimentary glass of wine. She didn't feel bad once. No email to us of the time change, poor announcement of time change on their Instagram account. The sad thing we really like the vineyard and the wines and was going to become wine members. They need a professional management team that knows how to run a vineyard, like all the other vineyards in lodi and lockeford. No story OR post on thier Instagram of a Big Banner across the luau post saying in big letters and numbers, "EVENT NOW STARTS 3PM-6pm NOT 4pm-6PM. We won't be coming back Thank you Jeremy's wine for being...
Read moreIt's been one year now since we got married at Stonum Vineyards 🥂, and we still have friends and family talking about it! The venue is beautiful and the staff were amazing. It was family friendly, and that was so important for us because of the little ones. There were so many parts of the venue to walk and look at. Your guests will enjoy and appreciate it so much!
