Ash Cave Fire Tower — Attraction in Logan

If you want a great view or just to climb up a lot of stairs, then the Ash cave fire tower is for you! Only 6 people at a time are allowed to climb the tower, but due to the heights, it probably won't be an issue. There is a very slight shake going up the stairs, but it is not that noticeable. Once you get to the top, though, you won't be able to reach the top of the tower because it's locked. That's one of my pictures. However, don't let that stop you. You're still up very high, and there's some nice shade at the top. The view is comparable to the one tower in Branson, Missouri. Lastly, it is free to go...

It's a cool 80-foot tall fire watch tower that you can climb up to the top platform but not enter it. The stairs are basic and sturdy but built to 1930's safety standards, so climb at your own risk. The view from the top is fantastic but not for the light of heart or uncoordinated. I would not recommend letting minors try to climb past the first or second landing for older kids as their it was built in a different time and for trained professionals. I am thrilled the 80' fire tower is not only still open to the public but the parking lot has been developed and benches were added for those who aren't afraid of heights. The signs at the bottom give lots of information including there is a limit of 6 ppl at the top. There were about 20 of us at the fire tower when I was there during peak season and none of us felt comfortable with 6 at the top. Two or 3 ppl is plenty but others can go up to one or two platforms below the top and just wait your turn. Breathtaking views from up there no matter...
