First Dam is a great place to hang out and relax. It has a nice little park, is right next to a few great trails, and is just a few minutes away from the center of Logan. A couple of things to keep in mind: 1.) Yes, you can swim here but the water is pretty much always cold. Really cold (even in July and August). 2.) Logan City code prohibits being in public parks after dusk. You might see a lot of people doing it, but they can technically give you a citation for trespassing if you are there after dark. It's frustrating going here and seeing all the people feeding the ducks bread even when there are signs everywhere saying not to (try bird seed!!) Cops will stroll the park making sure nobody is hanging hammocks up because it's apparently illegal here. A chain link fence halts hiking up high and restricts animals access to water, last summer there were two dead deer caught in the fence. If you go here, leave it better than...
Read moreGreat place for a picnic, kayaking, or feeding the ducks. The water is not super swimmable though... Most of it is really shallow (or at least shallow-looking) because of allllllll the algae. There is so much... Plus this weird, gross slimy mud. Who knows, maybe you like swimming in slimy algae?....but I don't. I also see people fishing there, though I don't know how successful they are.
