Myself my fiance and my 45-year-old niece decided to go get a cabin we had no pets no children with us no friends me and my fiance are both in our 60s years of age we got a cabin right next to the owner which was fine my niece gets up every morning no matter where she's at and walks and meditates which meditation is done in silence there was a public roadway that leads from the main road up to the cabinets and there's 10 of them on that side that morning she left the cabin at 9:30 and walked down the public roadway which was basically just a dirt road that led to the actual main highway she did not want to go to the actual main highway so she got to the end of the private public driveway where the cabins were which is like I said we were number one the last cabin was number 10 they were all on the same side of the road she was gone about 20 minutes came back because she forgot her cell phone and she does not feel safe not having a way to get a hold of us or an emergency service if she is out walking in a place that she knows or does not know so she came in got her cell phone left once more told us why she was back she said it was really nice no one was out it was just her and nature which she's new to new to because she lives in the city when she returned back she had said that there was a truck with a dog in it that was coming up the lane and when she stepped to the side and stood there the truck and stopped the gentleman had gotten out of the truck and said hello young lady how are you what she replied I'm fine just out for a walk in the country LOL he said all right then have a good day when she returned back to the cabin my fiance went out to the car to get something as she was walking in the driveway she'd seen my fiance out there while they were out there chit-chatting about about the walk that same truck had pulled up into the owner's driveway which ended up being the actual owner and she did not know that because she did not see the owner when we got the cabin she said oh there's that truck that stopped and asked how I was doing and my fiance replied back and said yeah that's the owner of this property she was like oh well as they're speaking the gentleman walks up and says I just wanted to see how you guys were doing and my fiance said fine my niece said fine he said well I just wanted to see who she was I like to know who's on my property especially if it's a good looking lady like that my niece said I guarantee it and walked off and smiled my fiance said no everything's fine she belongs here LOL we came together and I heard him say that me his fiance was inside the cabin he said all right then y'all have a good day and left well about 20 minutes later or 30 my fiance and I went to sit on the porch and drink coffee a Jeep pulled up and it had a lady in it come to find out that was the owner's wife which we didn't know he had one considering the comment that he made about my niece so she comes up and says you have to tell your niece or whoever she is that she cannot be walking outside she has to stay in the cabin or on the porch because we are not used to anyone walking up and down the Lane and I said what was she doing anything wrong was she bothering anybody was she on anybody's property or cabin rental property the lady said no but she cannot be off the porch we're just not wanting anyone to say anything that rents the other cabins and I was like why would they say anything if she's not doing anything and she's quietly walking a morning walk the lady became frustrated and said that if we did not listen to the rules we could leave which in the rules it stated nothing about no one being able to take a walk for any reason or that they had to stay on the property and could not leave unless they were leaving in a vehicle which my niece rode with us we said we were sorry we didn't realize that after she left that's when we went over the rules didn't see anything that she was talking about so we decided that we would forfeit our day and a half payment to rent the cabin and leave because it wasn't fair that my niece could not go off the porch but did not say about anyone else not being able to so the cabin was $200 a night we got it for three but left after a day and a half I do not recommend...
Read moreFor my birthday this year, I just wanted to go away for the weekend with my wife. Before the kids came along, we had stayed with Valley View Cabins years ago, so I looked them up and thankfully they were still in business. The Oak Valley Cabin was available, so we booked it. When we arrived, we were very surprised. Not only was Valley View Cabins still in business, but they obviously had been very productive and very successful since our last stay. We stopped at the new(er) office and announced our arrival, but we found out that our cabin was at a different location than before. It was only a couple miles away, up a very steep hill. Good thing we had an AWD vehicle! Our cabin was very nice and quite private. Just what we wanted. | Inside, there was a well equipped kitchen, a wood burning fireplace, a huge hot tub on the screened in porch, one and a half bathrooms with a huge shower stall and laundry facilities and two bedrooms. The first floor bedroom had a king bed in a rough hewn rustic log frame. The upstairs bedroom was basically a loft with a queen bed with the same kind of frame, and a half bathroom, no shower. Everything was decorated very nicely.| On the first night of our stay, we went to bed in the king bed. Unfortunately, I think the mattress was one of those memory foam jobs, which my wife and I are not fans. We weren't very comfortable and throughout the night the hot tub on the porch was so extremely loud, it sounded like a plane taking off every half hour or so. It actually was shaking the windows in the bathroom. Oh well, we weren't planning on going anywhere, so we got up early and just relaxed throughout the day, watching football games on the satellite TV. The coffee maker was terrible. It took over 2 hours to make a single pot of coffee. My wife was not happy. I am not a coffee drinker. | Night two wasn't much better. We decided to sleep in the loft on the queen bed because it had a regular spring mattress. It was more to our liking and more like what we were used to. Since the coffee maker took so long to brew, I had set the timer to start brewing at 6am. Big mistake. Since the loft bedroom is open, sound carries. Instead of just smelling fresh coffee in the morning, we heard the old girl huffing and puffing, sputtering and spitting just trying to get us a fresh pot. Louder than the hot tub.| Anyway, aside from getting very little sleep, we really enjoyed ourselves. It was extremely nice to get away, spend time with each other, and not have to do anything at all. All this cabin needs is a little tweaking and it'll be almost perfect. We're definitely gonna give it another chance, hopefully sooner than later. Congratulations to the owners of Valley View Cabins on growing your wonderful business!! Continued success to you and...
