We went two days and bought day-passes each day - $10.
We came late on the first day to enjoy the sunset but the resident campers said we had to leave at 7 PM (right before sunset). So just know that you will be kicked out at 7 PM. Had we have known that, we would have just stayed on the road above and watched the sunset. We did have time to explore the fenced off pier which was a small walk on the north side of the beach.
The 2nd day we enjoyed the beach all day. There is a life guard there and people will launch jet skits and small boats. The kids had a blast and the adults chilled out. Smaller beach but enough room for all. There is a train that passed by throughout the day which the kids loved.
The bathrooms stunk like pee and the kids were grossed out at that. Other than that, we had a great time here. Hope...

It's quite a small beach with a somewhat steep incline into the water. But, it's great sand. Very powdery, which I love. However, TAR. I didn't realize it until I left. I had tons of "freckles" on my knees as I was kneeling and building castles. Then, took a shower and now there's tar stuck to my shower floor. Apparently I had a large clump, that I never even noticed, in the bottom of my foot! Then I found the other areas that were contaminated. My belly button! Seriously?! My butt! GRRRR! You'd think, since they charge you $10 to get in they could at least attempt to...

Questo è un luogo magico e pieno di quella vera e non commerciale spiritualità californiana. Pochi sanno però che è stato il principale set cinematografico del memorabile film : "Un mercoledì da leoni" ( " The Big Wendsday " ) La spiaggia di Gaviota State Park è una spiaggia esposta a sud, al di sotto di un ponte ferroviario a circa 30 miglia a ovest di Santa Barbara e 25 miglia Il ponte è stato soprannominato il "Ghost Bridge" e la gente ha riferito che i fantasmi di due giovani ragazze vagano per la spiaggia di Gaviota e il campeggio di notte. Entrambe le estremità della spiaggia hanno alte scogliere ripide che impediscono l'esplorazione della spiaggia ad est e ad ovest con l'alta marea. Un molo pubblico di pescatori con un paranco a motore si protende da un lato della spiaggia sabbiosa e il torrente Gaviota scorre intermittentemente dall'altro lato. Dietro il ponte c'è un campeggio, un negozio di provviste e materiali da campeggio stagionali e un parcheggio giornaliero.
Nelle vicinanze ci sono eccellenti sentieri escursionistici all'interno del parco statale e nella vicina Foresta Nazionale di Los Padres. C'è anche una sorgente calda, Gaviota Hot Springs, per fare un'escursione a circa 2,5 miglia a nord sull'autostrada dall'entrata principale del parco.
