July 28, 2024 we had a group of 8. A few more guests than on our reservation but no problem for the staff was more than happy to put out additional chairs. We were primarily there to see Will Breman an amazing local musician. Most of us had not experienced the winery. We enjoyed the lush surroundings and the gorgeous weather. We brought our own charcuterie but forgot plates. Our hostess was happy to oblige with nice snack plates, water and napkins. We ordered several bottles of the Rose. Crisp, dry and refreshing. We also had the Pinot Noir. Very light for a Pinot but still had the taste you come to know as Santa Rita Hills. Also a bottle of the Syrah. Very bold, deep, rich and flavorful. Will sounded amazing, the wine was tasty, the staff more than accommodating. We spent several hours enjoying the lovely atmosphere and sweet company. Time well spent on a Sunday afternoon....

Our trip to the Melville Vineyards was nothing short of fantastic! We had a short but informative tour with Trystan, which included parts of the estate vines, their production and barreling areas, and then a lovely outdoor tasting. We were also extremely fortunate to run into Garrett, their Assistant Winemaker, and he spent nearly 30 minutes taking us through their winemaking process, and answering all of our questions. We gained a greater appreciation for winemaking, and for Melville wines, which was confirmed with the excellent array of wines they included in our tasting. This was definitely a highlight of our five days in and around the Santa Barbara area. We highly recommend the tour at...

Melville is pretty much the finest Pinot Noir on the west coast. There, I said it. Their Terraces PN is just jaw-droppingly good, and the rest of their line is also eye-opening. They make excellent unoaked Chardonnays as well, and great Syrahs and a lovely Viognier. But the Pinot Noir is the star here, the real crown jewel, the one bottle that tells you exactly what the wine from the Santa Rita Hills ought to taste like. Deep and complex and fruit forward without an all out assault, it's stronger than most PN's but lighter than anything else. It's so complex and wonderful. If you are in the area, do visit. They're great people and they pour...

We had a great experience at the Melville Vineyard. This complete organic vineyard "...currently has sixteen distinct Pinot Noir clones and selections planted on their estate, each offering unique benefits. Ultimately, they work in harmony to make the wines dynamic and complete." Laurie was engaging and knowledgeable. She took her time with us and made sure we didn't feel rushed. However, we finished the day taking home a Chardonnay. The grounds are amazing and provide the perfect backdrop for your tasting or event. I highly recommend visiting Melville if you are in the Santa Ynez Valley area.

Mike, our dog Melville and I had a WONDERFUL experience with Christina at the estate this afternoon. Of course the tasting was amazing but Christina’s hospitality was EXEMPLARY as the outdoor tasting area filled up quickly. She single-handedly poured everyone’s successive flight (How could she remember who was ready for which pour??) amid COVID-19 restrictions. Thanks Mr Melville for naming your winery after our dog and thank you especially Christina for your hospitality and sharing your deep knowledge about viticulture and the particularities that makes Melville our favorite! Cheers! 🍇🍷🍇
