I've been hiking here for years, and it is a beautiful park. Reason for my low rating is that they've been doing a lot of brush and vine clearing lately. And I get it, some of the stuff they're removing isn't native. However, apart from the loss of habitat and food for the local wildlife, the removal of large vines and brush makes it feel like a man-made area. And I hike these state parks to see nature as it is, not what people think it should look like. Results of this brush removal are immediately obvious. Fewer birds and animals, and an understory with far less plantlife. No joke, I see more wild animals in my suburban neighborhood these days than I do in this park. I can't remember the last time I saw a Fox in parts of this park.

Also, they do an absolutely lousy job of maintaining some of their historic buildings. With the exception of the ones they use for their nature center, and to rent out, everything else is allowed to rot and fall apart. They let it fall apart until they have an excuse to tear it down, and then they just have...

A fabulous state park in Delaware and adjoining White Clay Creek Preserve in Pennsylvania. Has many variety of trails, from an old roadbed of an abandoned railroad, former roads, to dirt paths winding up and down the hills around The White Clay Creek and it's tributaries. The Historical Mason-Dixon Trail goes thru on the western side of the park, with an historical marker located in the middle on a side trail. The one downside is parking at the numerous parking areas in Delaware is limited, and costs $4 for residences and $8 for out if staters. If one plans on going to hike frequently, best to purchase a year long pass at the State Park Offices M-F 8am-4pm Each State Park (White Clay, Brandywine Creek, Bellevue) has excellent paper maps of most...

For my money this is the premier mountain biking locale in the mid-Atlantic region. If you love to ride fast flowing rollers, this is your place. It's also great for beginners too, without a ton of rocks that will intimidate the newbies. There's a fun pump track for the old school bmx crew and a skill sections for those who want to test their bike handling and their mettle on bridges, tetter...

Acres and acres of land to explore. Still haven’t touched upon a fraction of it. What portion of it the doggo and I have hiked, we loved. Nature at its finest and beautiful every season. Trails on trails on trails to hike, bike or stroll on. If you aren’t a season pass holder, it’s $4/ day for Delaware residents. Out of state $8/. Worth it.
