Enjoyed taking the family and pup on this nice, easy, flat and PAVED trail. Beautiful scenery including glimpses of the ocean and tiny off trails that you can take down to the beach. Couple of benches along the Discovery Trail to sit and enjoy the view. We went in late November, and only a couple of bicyclists were out enjoying the paved trail, so very quiet and serene. Wonderful place to take pictures of your sweet family. FYI, the restroom is only a outhouse situation there, so be forewarned. Can't go wrong with this trail, Highly recommend!

Nice paved trail that leads to an unpaved path to the beach. There were frogs, a garter snake and other amphibians along the trail. The flora was blooming as well. Lots of water areas all around. A good biking area. The monoliths on the beach had lots of mussels, barnacles, and a few anemones but no Sea Stars that I could find at low tide.

Right away at the beginning of the trail is the picturesque bridge overlooking the gorgeous wetlands. Great for birding and we spent most of our time in awe looking out over the bridge. Also my young kiddos weren't really up for much hiking so we didn't make it far on the trail. Happy that this has such a spectacular view and birding spot at the beginning...

Biker beware. The trail over the bridge is gravel and steep as well as narrow at times. Still, it's a beautiful ride if you're a competent rider. The trail "Y"'s and the path to the right takes you into Illwaco. This paved and quite hilly. I think it worth it though. There are many walkers on the trail, so be wary of your speed as many...
