I have now been in the course for 13 weeks and thus believe I am qualified to evaluate the course and thus at least part of the university. First of all, I must say that the contact with the administration, namely Ben, has been extremely smooth and friendly. I have been warmly welcomed, aided in everything and my mails were answered very quickly. When I then started the course itself with the lecturer Rabbi Adam Greenwald, I was overwhelmed with his knowledge, kindness and devotion. Also, all the participants are extreemly frindly and engaged. It's not just frontal teaching via Zoom, but regularly we are divided into subgroups to discuss particular topics in a small group before reflecting on them in the whole group. What particularly touches me is that I, as a "Hassan", am welcomed so warmly amid many Jews and potential converts to Judaism. The participants have ZERO prejudices; on the contrary, they are interested, as I sense from their questions and interaction. The course is originally for people who want to convert or are interested in Judaism. I can only recommend everyone to participate in this course. After several years of reading and learning the language, I find that this course closes the circle, pulls the threads together, puts things into context and expands what I have learned. On a recent Saturday night, I held my daughters Bat Mitzvah party on the elegant Chan Soon-Shiong Patio of American Jewish University's Mulholland campus. Jessica Levy, the Catering and Special Events Manager, created a beautiful, magical party above the city and under the stars. Each detail was perfect in every way, thanks to Jessica's professionalism and standards of excellence. I am quite particular and no request fell through the crack. Jessica patiently guided me through the planning process and arranged for the menu, bar, wait service, lighting, floor plan, parking, bakery order, and more. Jessica is knowledgeable, experienced and was an indispensable asset in my planning process. The guests were so impressed with the gorgeous facility and the absolutely delicious (and plentiful!) food. Jeff Stuart, Director of Campus Dining and Catering, was very understanding and careful regarding food allergy concerns. It is a wonderful service that AJU provides to the community making this special setting and lovely hospitality available at a most competitive and reasonable cost. We attended the Lit drive through Hanukkah light program at AJU. It was an entertaining and well organized event. Our children (10, 12 and 15) were as enthusiastic about the program as my husband and I were. We are grateful for a safe and engaging drive through experience during this time of ""Stay Home" order in California.
