Cathy's Corner — Attraction in Los Angeles

Pronounced Cathy’s coroner. This spot is a quiet cornerstone along the Mt. Hollywood Dr. trail in Griffith Park. I don’t really know the reason for the name given, but seeing as the English language loves to play on words, I’ve surmised it has something to do with the famous Haunted Picnic Table a few feet south of this landmark. A hidden treasure that is unrecognized by Google maps, one can read about it online simply by searching key words “haunted picnic table”.

I used a pinhole camera to photograph the spectacle and was quite surprised by the outcome. I’ve included a digital exposure from the same angle to scrutinize whether a celestial phenomenon occurred which my digital camera overlooked.

This very location was my inspiration to hike this trail, however I was not aware that there would be a road closure to the composting lot. As it turns out, I ended up hiking 12 miles that day. I have since taken measures to learn and hike all the trails at Griffith Park so that finding this memorial site, Cathy’s coroner, doesn’t result in my crawling back...

La la land movie location you only can hike up to this place.you cant just drive to cathy's corner. In order to reach you have to park far away . May near the Griffith Observatory greek theater or other few placese around here and hike uphill for about 2 1/2 miles, traversing the serpentine twists and turns as the paved road makes its way up Mount Hollywood. I suggest early morning becase during the day is to hot. Also no night hiking park is close to sunset to sunrise. Make sure take all trash with you also they have many trash bin many placses many hikers still thro the trash every where. Also it say they have mountain lion, rattlesnake and other wild animal. Just be aware. Most of the time i can see other hikers and bike riders but when i go this placse no one there. I was there like 7 am pretty cold. Better take your jacket if you go early. Great overlook best known from the Movie LaLa Land. One of the many hidden gems in Griffith Park and fairly easy to reach. The road isn’t accessible by car, you‘ll need to park at Mineral Wells or Travel Town and hike there. Depending on where you start it will take you about 30-45min. Makes for a quick afternoon hike with very rewarding views. You could continue further up to mountain for some greats views...
