Oh, where do I start? Hiked here many times for several years. Cannot recommend highly enough! Amazing, historic place to hike with dogs. There are easy flat trails, moderate ones, slightly difficult ones. All kibds of rocks hillsides to climb up yo, if that's your thing. Stoney Point is right across the street (Topanga Blvd) if you want to walk or climb around there. Santa Susana Pass Road is a lovely drive.
Too bad the whole area is so overdeveloped thanks to the miserable, angry, overpaid snobs that keep trying to ruin everything for the rest of us! Ugly McMansions and a fake mega church ruin the otherwise beautiful, historic landscape. Lots of remnants of the old west and movie history can be found around here. Just watch out for bees, snakes, broken glass, and wildlife!
Wonderful, meaningful, place to bring your loved ones - whether they be human,...

The area was a crossroad for the Tongva/Chumash/Tataviam Tribes (and is still an important area for them - see the cave paintings) and later by the Spaniards who marked it as a part of the Portolá expedition. This whole area was also once called Spahn Ranch - which was where Charles Manson and his followers set up shop during their murder spree...so! A lot of history in a...
Read moreVery nice historical park. It is mostly unimproved, with little amenities, but plenty of trails. Historically the original Stagecoach Trail runs along a portion of Lilac Lane and to the east and west. To the east is the 'Devils Slide' a portion of the trail that was most difficult, and riders would have to get out of the stagecoach and walk up the trail behind the horses and coach. In between the old Stagecoach Trail and the Santa Susana Pass, there is the Santa Susana Grade Road, which was only used for about 10 years. Portions can still be seen to the South along...
