Great roadside beach park accessible off the southwest end of Temescal Canyon Road and California State Highway #1. This long, thin strip of a beach park is nicely tucked in below the Palisades Hills. Unlike other popular stretches of beach, residential ocean view lookie-loos have less chance of intrusion with public paying visitors. Beach crowds are seemingly dependent on the seasons. Warmer weather will have lifeguards present at the stations watching over swimmers and surfers. Off-season crowds are less often in the colder water, without lifeguards present and more likely here for sand based activities, including beach volleyball. Paved pathways and large parking lots provide space for bicycling, roller skating or skateboarding. There’s public restrooms available, although in the off-season, some may be locked. A restroom and shower facility is located at the south end of the park next to the famous Baywatch Headquaters. I’d suggest asking the parking attendant when entering the park for availability. The downside of the upside, is the togetherness of the parking area with the busy Pacific Coast Highway, aka California State Highway #1. While there’s a continuous separator preventing incursions, the almost constant traffic noise and nosiness of commuters may be too much for some...

Read moreWill Rogers State Beach offers a more laid-back alternative to some of the busier LA beaches. The views are beautiful and the water, invigorating. While the facilities like restrooms and parking could use a bit more attention, it's a great spot for sunbathing and beach volleyball. However, it can get crowded on weekends, so if you're looking for solitude, aim for a weekday visit. A worthy beach stop for both locals and...
