Easily accessed short .5mi paved trail makes for a great way to stretch your legs while taking in the aftermath of nature's violent fury. The lava rocks and formations have a tremendous amount of color and glitter to them. The pine trees must be some of the most hearty to endure such a landscape. While the park is off the beaten path it is definately worth the time to explore especially if you are between the tetons and crater lake. The rangers were very helpful and the visitors center was open and picked up stickers, stamp, and a patch to remember the very...

A really well maintained hiking path in the middle of the beautiful craters of the moon landscape. From the paved trail on this hike you can view the strange volcanic rock environment and read the informative signs with details of how this landscape looks the way it does now. One tip is that I would very much recommend wearing a hat to this hike because even though it is only a half a mile loop the black cement feels very...

Interesting history. Love the vibe. The resilience of the smaller plants and the history of what happened to the and such. Really shows how contemporary beauty isn't always the ideal standard. The trail is blacktop and easy to walk. Handicap friendly. Plenty of little information boards through the walk. Lots of different kinds of plant life. Love the lava rock. Very beautiful. The visitor center is small. Easy parking...

This is a .5 mile loop hike through an amazing set of rock formations. The first part of the trail has little out crops of rocks that you can imagine into different creatures if you have young kids. At the mid and end part of the trail is where I would say you find the orchard. This is where the larger rock formations are and spooky trees out of a horror movie. A plus to this trail it is wheel chair and limited mobility accessible.

Lovely wheel chair concrete loop showing some volcanic features. Unfortunately there is no information on individual features, but the plaques talk about how to maintain the park. Namely, stay on the trails because future generations will not see the beauty because volcanic features and rock are very brittle. One of my pictures shows this .
