This is a nice museum covering a decent amount of History and has countless bits of memorabilia with vehicles racing suits helmets awards and trophies also go through some of the history of racing in general it's not like if you went to let's say the Nascar Hall of Fame where follows a specific timeline and history this is more general and racing in the Northeast yes there's a lot of NASCAR influences to it because well you'll literally right next to the New Hampshire speedway and we have people like Joey logano from New England but you can't really call it a Nascar museum and it's not a strictly car racing museum because they have motorcycles there and soapbox cars occasionally it's a racing museum and each item has a detailed description and history then on top of that every one to two years most of the exhibits are switched out some stay much longer some don't it depends how long the museum is allowed to hold on to different things but you could go back year after year and see different things every time keep in mind it's not the biggest museum in the world nor is it the smallest but everything has been kept in the best quality possible while giving the most attention to detail they cooked I would highly recommend if you're going to be in the area look up when they'll be open and check it out because if you're into racing or Motorsports in general it's a nice way to spend some time inside with the AC and potentially learn something they also host a bunch of different events throughout the year so you could also coincide with one like I did it on a day in which they were hosting a Pontiac car show which for myself was kind of neat because I own a pseudo Pontiac because my car has a lot of Pontiac parts and it can be swept out even though it's technically a Toyota matrix they were both made on the same production...
Read moreThis museum is an amazing place for local racing history. When we visited we there were plenty of volunteers to share the history of the cars, trophies, memorabilia and photos hanging everywhere in the museum. Everyone was so kind and knowledgeable ! There is a slot car track that was made by one of the volunteer members, a sim rig that you can try to run NHMS and a decent sized merch area for shopping for the local race enthusiast.
I brought my 4 & 6 year old who enjoyed all parts of the museum. They loved the area for coloring pictures of the race cars in the museum, being able to sit in some of the cars and trying out the slot car track. They even got a hot wheels car to take home!
I highly recommend checking this place out even if you aren't the biggest race fan because you will definitely learn something about local history that you may not of known prior...
Read moreThis place, has been on my list for a while, and I'm grateful to have finally made it. What an AMAZING collection of motorsports history ! It's very well laid out, easy to access, and staffed by UNBELIEVABLE volunteers, who's knowledge can't be matched ! There is so much to learn here, and you can digest it at your own pace, OR, you can receive a guide tour, from one of the volunteers (seasoned by many years on the exhaust circuit) to raise your experience to the winning level. Remember race fans, this is the history of our sport, and WE need to support it !! If you are a fan of motorsports, you NEED to get off the couch, and get to...
