Free! Primitive! Almost perfect!! I needed a quiet peaceful place to camp and recharge my soul. This is the spot. It’s almost 100% because I love to swim and really needed to get away from a long winter; swimming is very primal for me. It’s 4.11.23 I’m aware now that I’d need to go more south to find warmer swimmable water so I went east toward the Ozark lakes 😅. There I found signs warning for ‘swim at your own risk, they do not check water for bacteria or water quality, warning for mud that could be a risk’ it was $10 a night cash or check however there was another camper and the experience became strange to say the least. I thought I’d have a better chance entering the water from the boat slant in the morning after, however it was -safer- to leave; so I quietly packed (@2am) and drove back to louisburg lake. Feels safe here. It’s clean, quiet and it seems to be seldomly visited from what I’d assume locals (wave back) to fish or let dogs roam or bask in the beauty. I apologize to the locals because if I lived here I’d love to keep it secret, quiet and beautiful as it is, so leave no trace behind. At night you fall asleep under a clear view of the stars and the gentle water waves. There’s sounds of frogs, hawks, crickets and birds. The very last spot has a perfect arrangement for your tent, however, I did find a few ticks on my tent so I sprayed it down and was good, it is the season for those blood suckers. You can find wood laying about or can collect for the fire pit and sit on the benches. Absolutely recommend!!...

So this was our first camping trip I believe, ever. All girls, and we landed on this location for the picking. It didn't disappoint, I had read reviews and looked over quite a few different camping locations that are primitive. To get to the sites couldn't be easier, they're in plain sight as you roll up, plenty of spaces between them, and all lakeside. Talk about a viewable treat. The lake is swimmable as well as being able to fish or catch bullfrogs?!?? That's a thing! Very peaceful, relaxing and fun. Clean sites for the most part, cleaned up the ones that weren't. Worth the visit. So pretty. We were able to see all the planets in alignment with the moon this weekend. Talk about blissfully grateful. One small downfall was we weren't able to locate any walking trails which would have topped the...

The area is busy. Bathrooms are just terrible...lots of flies. No trash receptacle. But the WORST problem is the complete lack of oversight. Had a problem camper who needed to be removed. After some 20 calls to law enforcement and Fish and Wildlife...she was allowed to continue dangerous and threatening behavior. I would suggest finding anywhere else to go. Lots of transient peoe however they were not the problem....the trouble was a woman in an RV who clearly needed to be arrested. Threatened me and others, played recordings of cats being tortured and killed, allueded she had a firearm and kept her generator on for 4 days straight. We just left after realizing that law enforcement was simply going to ignore...

Beautiful dispersed sites. Dont mess it up, society. Take your trash with you! It's not hard! EDIT!: we are leaving in 9 days the state of Kansas but in the few months we have worked here Louiscreek has been one of our fave spots for off work down time. Today I was cleaning up breakfast while my husband walked out dog. Ron Parks stopped to talk to my dog and husband and he is such a pleasant man. Josh told him how wonderful he keeps the outdoor latrine (because we never knew who kept it in such good condition!);Mr Parks is so sweet and takes pride in these great lands of Kansas! Thank you for doing that, Ron! All over the USA in our van and this is one of the top 5 cleanest we have stayed!! ♥️♥️
