Wow, both the story and the sculptures are very touching. I just happened to be in Montegut, and as I was driving to my destination I saw I sign for this, and I remembered a news story just after Hurricane Ida this last hurricane season, about an interesting sculpture garden near Grand Isle, and thought to myself could this be it. A solitary, quiet man with no real art background decided to make sculptures. After some time he was forced from the rented property, other than that, not a lot is known. The sculptures are sombre, many represent angels, there is a large 'light house' that would seem to be decorated with scenes from the artists life. Across the street there is a small visitor center, very worth looking over. This is a great find if you passing through Montegut, or if in Houma and have a few hours free. Somewhat macabre, as you could tell through the expression of the sculptor that there must be some internal conflicting process going on in his mind. Read moreWe went in and around in about 15 minutes because it was starting to rain. So didnt see anyone that gives the tour and couldnt ask them any questions. The sculptures are a little weird looking for what you might be used to seeing. But this definitely has a uniqueness and I know theres a big story behind everything here and why and how all of it was done, so dont judge it until you get the full tour.
