My mother worked at the beach over 7 years and I was bringing her to look at the park without going past the booth because they charge once you cross the booth. She hasn't been there in many years. We were driving the speed limit of 5 mph. I even pulled over so the speeding cars could pass us. We were admiring the canals and looking for wildlife. Once we got closer to the booth, I turned around to leave. I never once went in the grass or blocked traffic or peeled out. Once I saw a truck coming up behind me, I veered off the road a little to let the truck pass. It was a park ranger who rolled down his window. He asked us what we were doing. I explained we were sight seeing. He said aggressively that this is state park property. I felt attacked and replied that I'm trying to leave. He said the way to leave is straight ahead. As I proceeded to leave, while still doing the speed limit of 5mph, he followed us all the way out to the gate. There was a car coming towards us who was speeding and he didnt stop them. We were not doing anything illegal. We did not have music playing. We did not litter. We were trying to read the signs on the side of the road with information about the wildlife that can be seen. I felt extremely upset and attacked for admiring our beautiful state park. I had tears in my eyes. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PAY MONEY TO LOOK AT THIS PARK THAT ONCE WAS AN AMAZING PLACE TO SPEND TIME. I have NEVER felt this...
Read moreThe beach was nice but the concrete area near the water has bolts sticking up out of it and my husband's foot got cut on one. Naturally, as we were just walking out of the sand we had our shoes off, as everyone in the area did. It's the long end of the bolt sticking out of the concrete, not a bolt head. It's extremely dangerous to have those just sticking out so much and a fall hazard. A child could really get hurt on that if they fell down. I hope someone will get them cut down before summer really hits and people visit more frequently.
Secondly, there was no one present at the area where you pay to get in, just posted signs saying put money in an envelope and into a white metal box. There was a lot of info posted about the guard shack window but I didn't see an actual price to get in anywhere. We left 20 bucks and followed the other directions.
All in all, it was a nice little area without those few flaws. No food available or any confessions, not on the point or near by. You'll have to drive a little to get to a cold drink on a real hot day so bring plenty. No glass bottles though, as is stated I the rules on numerous signs at the Point.
This was my...
Read moreThis isn't the Cypermort Point of 10 to 20+ years ago, it's been remodeled and revamped, the beach sand is very nice to walk on and the water is the cleanest I've seen at any Louisiana beach. We did find a small amount of class on the beach right at the water's edge so be mindful of that, I definitely wouldn't walk the beach or swim without shoes on!
Only gave 4 stars because we were run out of our original spot by some "bros" with loud music and open containers in glass bottles, both of which are prohibited but with only one attendant working it would have done no good to complain (to in security and beach cleanup would make this place perfect for everyone!) we simply moved to a better vantage point down the beach to watch the sunset, and it was a truly glorious sunset! This is definitely the best local place to salt water fish from the shore, play in the water at the beach, kayak or canoe or like we did, just sit and enjoy the...
