Port Hudson was on my 'must-see' list because of its history. My husband and I went the last weekend of January 2023. The man working that day didn't give us any historical information about the battle or history that happened here. We brought our German Shepherd on the hike. She enjoyed the great outdoors. The trail wasn't well marked of knowing what happened where. The map we got at the information station, wasn't detailed. We walked/hiked a portion of it just talking and enjoying the outdoors. The staff was nice and knowledgeable. Several walking trails that I am too old and fat to go down. All and all a nice side stop on the way down to...

It was amazing to think about what had taken place right on the spots where we stood and enjoyed the shade of the trees with the freedom that we all too often take...
