The Marzen House museum was closed during my early Sunday morning visit. There are a few historic mining exhibits viewable outdoors in the museum parking area.
The house is well preserved at the western edge of Lovelock, Nevada, adjacent to Interstate 80 westbound on-ramp along the main street of town. The I-80 eastbound exit of Lovelock also provides access to the Marzen House.
Briefly, Marzen was a mining town near Lovelock that was destroyed by an immense wall of water from a heavy downpour in the mountains above. A recently dedicated monument provides more details, thanks to the local chapter of the historical fraternity E Clampus Vitus (ECV).
Nevada history has been largely bypassed in most non-Nevada schools' curricula. Read moreThis space was amazing and they have done some amazing things preserving history here beyond the house there is a Assayers office that's been really restored and another building with more artifacts, old mine display and minerals too much to tell you. Bonnie Penny and David were amazing and even though they weren't open they were working and let us look around. They are planning on finishing up displays and having a reopening in April 2022.
