This is a new stop on the annual Catoctin Holiday Art Tour (CHAT) in Loudoun County. What a lovely place! The small building is a working studio/gallery for fiber artist Susan Trask, who raises the alpacas on the farm right there! Her wearable creations are beautifully crafted, unique and yet with a signature style (your friends will know you're wearing a Trask!). For the holidays she has ornaments, gifts for animals, some jewelry. Space on the wall allows her to host a second artist (Karen Watson had multimedia work -- paint, found objects, translucent semi-precious stones -- displayed during this year's CHAT). I believe they do farm tours and classes, but I didn't have a chance (yet!) Since that unplanned visit, I’ve attended some classes, purchased some acid dyes for my yarn, added a small amount of her farm-raised alpaca fleece to my stash, and have found Susan to be a wonderful friend. I have been driving past the farm sign for this place for years wondering what was inside and decided to stop. I got up to the shop and the sign said closed.
