My Wife, my two kids, and I were turned away and told that we couldn't see the museum. We visited Lovington for 3 days for the 2021 Lea Country Fair which we really enjoyed. Each morning before the Fair we need to find things to do. On August 6th 2021 we choose to visit the Lea Country Museum. The Commercial Hotel portion of the museum was closed but had a paper sign in the window saying that he was out on an errand. We contacted him using the number on the sign. He was somewhere on the property but soon after opened the door. Upon entering we were greeted by a man who we think was Jim Harris. He promptly asked if we had masks (as he stood there without a masks)! We said no and that we had not brought any. He said said sorry but without masks we had to leave and that it was the "Law"! If we loose the right to learn our history then we have lost it all! Thankfully the very next day we left and went to Lincoln NM where the Old Lincoln Days Festival was taking place. Their museums did not not turn us away or anyone else...
