My review is NOT based off the museum aspect of my trip, the museum itself and the land around it was wonderful, the employees inside were extremely helpful and very nice however we decided to go on the 40th anniversary celebration event they held over the weekend Big mistake me and another person was basically harassed and grilled as to why we were leaving “so early” by one of the helpers who must of been setting up part of the event or someone who was vendor I don’t know exactly whom it was but they definitely had some sort of affiliation to the event/museum it was a extremely uncomfortable experience, we paid to get in support the museum itself tour it and see what it has to offer and respectably decide to leave then have people there straight up harass you about leaving I’m not talking about in a joking matter neither this lady was a complete Karen and wouldn’t let it go and kept insisting we come “buy things” and that we basically are ignorant since we decided we didn’t want to spend our entire day there never again will I set foot in this place under that reasoning you’d think as a helper/ vendor you’d be welcoming to new guests who take interest in the overall museum it’s self or Native American history....

This exceptionally curated and maintained museum is a MUST SEE. The artifacts, while many are displayed in a unique setting, are high quality in their integrity.

The sights are simply astounding. Whether regarding the architecture of this arts and crafts style home with a somewhat Romanesque interior, or the specimens emblematic of native culture you will be amazed at the pristine condition of both.

A creative genius, the eccentric innovator that built and housed his collection here had a wonderful vision. Nestled along the river you can almost smell the campfires and imagine the tribes moving in and along the banks and the woodlands.

The staff are knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. Great gift shop. Check out my Google photos of the place at...

An adorable, beautifully located, informative and interesting lil museum! The type of location where you get out of your car and breath lighter relaxing into nature. The construction and design of the house were so interesting as well as the artifacts.

Super helpful staff!! Unfortunately(or fortunately depending on what you’re looking for) a pretty dead cell zone, while trying to meet up with my other half of the party And I was so grateful to be assisted using their landline! Thank you! We came on a rainy cold day, so will be back to do the...

I visit the museum as much as possible to take in the scenery, relax, powwow, go fishing and hiking, tubing, and even camp in the area. This time we saw the wreckage from an F-1 tornado that uprooted a couple of acres as it ripped through the woods and sent large branches piercing through the hood of an SUV in the parking lot! Beautiful place to visit though! Always one of my favorite local spots to feel the energy of my native American roots!

A real gem, we found it almost by accident, deserves much wider publicity. Beautiful house and grounds. Interesting if recent house history plus history of occupation of this area going back 10,000 years. It is not easy locally to find information about the indigenous Indian population at the time the first European settlers arrived but this is the place which tells the full story. So many different tribes, I had no idea!
