One of my favorite local places for a hike. A group of friends and I hike here in all seasons pretty frequently. Beautiful in every season and you see different things every time we come here! Trails are well marked and they do a great job keeping up with the boardwalk repairs. Appreciate the wood chips on the trails and they replenish them frequently. Last there on a cold, weekday morning and didn’t come across any other hikers. We always stop at the wounded animal sanctuary and someone is always there taking care of the injured birds. Read moreWhat an absolutely gorgeous place. I lived and worked near by for years, knew it was there but always passed it by. I came here on a field trip with 79 inner city 3rd graders. They were all apprehensive about this trip. I have never seen such a quick turn around in attitude! They were totally engaged and excited. The staff was friendly, attentive, and patient. They were also wildly helpful when we had a student suffer an allergic reaction. The kids and adults all left exhausted but we all had the best time and they are already asking to come back in 4th grade. Read moreThis is regarding the Southern California Montane Botanic Garden. I have to say... I am surprised I found a place that does not charge a fee (they do ask for donations. Please, donate!). I come here from time to time, mostly in the spring and summer. It's a nice little place to take a nice breather in nature and the botanical garden at the front. There is also a little pond, and at times see this big cat fish swimming by the deck.
