A links-style course! A newer one at that making it a must play. Back tees and back back tees make it a course that can host championships. Facilities are top-notch with a nice enough clubhouse-grill and patio to bring in non-golfing locals for dinner. The course itself can seem easy on some days and hard on others, as wide fairways and large greens smear your depth perception. Staying on course (shortest distance to the green) is an important strategy as those fairways do a good job leading you away from the hole and you use a longer club for your approach. The 15th hole is certainly a challenge as you stare at a sliver of a green on the other side of a boggy-swamp. Do you hate trees because you always seem to hit them? Me too! Luckily, there are few trees on Makefield. However, fairways tend to lie low in a gully making the wind a stealthy foe if it is anywhere over 15 mph. Greens are super interesting with lots of opportunities to putt from off the green as the grass is very well manicured and the sandy soil makes it flatter. The course can be more difficult at times if fescue rough is allowed to grow into tall. Makefield is probably one of the very best public courses in the area, up there with Broad Run and potentially better. It is an absolute must play and should be high-up on your list of courses to visit.

Nice links style course and welcoming staff. Good clubhouse and practice facility including range, chipping/bunker and dedicated putting green. Played the front 9 and the course layout was enjoyable. Tees and greens were in good shape but the fairways were satisfactory many areas need work but it didn’t impact play. If fairways were in great shape like the greens and tee boxes then I would give a 5/5. I’d still recommend this course to someone.

Great track in Eastern PA. Traditional course with links feel on a few holes and par 3s. A few reachable par 4s from blues, 3 iron and 3/5 wood are your best friends there. Tight fairways and large bunkers protect the greens nicely. Wind can be brutal (up to 25-30mph gusts). Pace of play has been decent, only 1 really slow round out of 7 this year

This is one of our favorite public courses. Very user friendly. Different tees allow players of all skill levels to have fun and be challeged. Nice mix of short and long holes. Right now its really in wonderful shape especially for this time of year. Greens were rolling true. The people working there are great. They make you feel welcome. And the food amenities are top notch. You will want to stop after to grab a cold drink and some food. And you cant best the value. The senior rate on weekdays is $52. Which simply cant be beat. And I play at a lot of places throughout the greater philly area. I would heartily recommend giving it a try if you have neven been. I think you will become a regular. Easy to get to just off I 95 at the last exit in pennsylvania. About a 20 minute drive from northeast philly. Look forward to maybe seeing some of you there one day. Tell them you read it here first. When you walk off you will know it was worth it. Trust me on those i would not steer you wrong. I only wish I was a resident. I only know you can easily pay a lot more to play a lot less. Getting bang for your buck can never be a bd...

Extremely disappointed in a round of gold at Makefield Highlands today, March 2nd, 2020. First, there was no mention at check-in of any temporary greens. During our round we encountered two. Second, the bunkers are in horrible condition. Many have no sand at all and appear to be under repair which is understood at this time of year but, just like the temporary greens, there was no mention in the pro shop or by the starter. In addition, the bunkers that appear to be in play have gravel in them. I try to take care of my equipment and would prefer to not hit out of gravel. Finally, one of our two carts began to lose battery power on the 12th hole. In returning to the barn to get a new cart there was another group returning a cart for the same reason. The first replacement cart we were given was so dirty we didn't even want to sit in it. Then, on the 16th fairway, another dead cart was abandoned. I usually enjoy playing this course any time of the year but it appears things are going down hill. After this experience it will be a while before I schedule a tee time at Makefield Highlands especially for the overpriced...
