Lower Humbert is a classic covered bridge in a beautiful setting crossing Laurel Hill Creek. It was built in 1891 and extensively remodeled by the County in 1991. It's in a locale where the stream is next to the road. During any season, the tranquil setting allows the visitor a chance to walk/drive across the 126.5-foot span, then stop wander up or down the edge of Laurel Hill Creek and enjoy the outside views of the structure. Lower Humbert Bridge is the southernmost covered bridge in Somerset County. For a map and description of others, search for and download "Exploring the Covered Bridges of Somerset County" Confluence, PA is just 3.5 miles southeast. The town has lodging and makes it a good base for a weekend stay to explore all of the bridges in Somerset County.

If you want to go on a beautiful, scenic drive along back country roads you will definitely enjoy the drive here; it is incredibly peaceful. I have always loved covered bridges, so I enjoy going to different ones and taking pictures. There is a pull off along the road close to the bridge.

Private homes on both the north and southwestern side of the bridge. We parked on the southern side of Humbert road, which had our car slightly on the road. Keep an eye out for the leaf-covered boat launch. Very remote location and only witnessed two cars drive by while we were there.

Oh myyy. It had been raining, the AROMA! slightly earthy, woody, spicy, sweet and wet leaves. Gorgeous. Just gorgeous. Sign says 8 ft clearance. It's higher. People live across it. One of the photos shows the individual leaves that were hanging from a branch like jewels on a necklace.

This covered bridge is as covered and bridgey as any I've ever seen! As you drive across you get the creaky floorboard sounds that you can surely use to freak out the friend who's never crossed a wooden bridge before! Highly recommend! We'll covered bridge this thing again and again!

Pretty old bridge and it’s a long one. Easy to get to and there are a couple pull off spots. Beware if you walk down by the creek in the woods for a picture as I got absolutely covered in these sticky little burrs that took an hour to pull off haha
