What a delight! We took the tour which amazed all of us with the talent of “ordinary people” and their “extraordinary art.” Well worth the time and money. It was freezing cold so all three of us plan to visit again during a warmer time period so we could linger longer. I’d visited the Garden of Eden many times before and never realized what gems existed just down the street. A friend told me about the Arts Center and the ReBarb artist, Mri-Pilar. We bought some art and want to buy more. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. A wonderful time was had by all. If you like folk art, Lucas, Kansas is a must see.

This place is a little hidden a treasure! The lady who runs it is so nice and give you a tour of the museum herself which was fascinating. She also took us to a couple of other local sights. They have some pretty cool pieces of art for sale here. Make sure to stop off and get the tour, $7 very well spent!

Such a neat place, and a great ending spot for the scavenger hunt! We didn’t do the paid ticket, but chatted with the front desk lady for a while, and collected our surprise for finishing the scavenger hunt.

If you have any appreciation for the creative spirit and an open mind for the power of art I cannot recommend enough that you get off the damn interstate and take a short detour to Lucas and the Grassroots Art Center. I also recommend that you take the guided tour as the stories behind these creations are as fascinating and critical to the appreciation as the actual piece, be that 2 dimensional, 3 dimensional, or just out of this world...

If you are into outsider art, this small town of is the epicenter of it. The museum highlights mostly Kansas artists but also has other artists from outside the state in its collection. Take the guided tour. It is free with the admission price. The town of Lucas is about 15 miles off of Rt. 70 and it is totally worth the detour. What an amazing experience! We will be going...
