Let me start by saying the venue itself is absolutely gorgeous! Whatever you do, however, do not book a summer wedding here if you're expecting adequate air conditioning.  It was over 100 on the day of our wedding, and the air conditioners simply could not keep up. Our guests were miserable, fanning themselves even inside. The bridesmaids took refuge in the bathroom as that was the only area properly cooling, and the bulk of our guests left very early as no one was comfortable. All systems were looked at after we left, and we were told they were running normally. My cousin is an A/C tech and was at the wedding and said he wasnât surprised, as the venue has three sides of all single panned glass, so the air conditioners simply canât keep up with the heat. Additionally, the day of our wedding they did not lock the gate across from the ceremony site as promised when you tour the venue, so there were people and cars directly behind us at our ceremony. They also did not provide the cocktail tables we requested and paid for. They did refund us for the cocktail tables as we never received them and $300 for the venue being so hot, but it was not worth the $300. I would have much rather actually been comfortable and my guests been comfortable the day of. Additionally, we rented part of the house next door. I highly recommend renting it or at least part of it, if you're going to have your wedding there as itâs gorgeous, but word of warning if it is a hot day the upstairs will not be cool enough to use. We rented it, but it stayed 90 in the upstairs even with the air conditioners running and would not be cool until the morning. We would check it then, and it would be 75. It is an old house and I don't think it is properly insulated. They did however refund us for the upstairs portion of the house as we were never able to use it. Basically, if you're going to book the venue do not book it for summer whatever you do! You and your guests will be miserable if itâs...

Read moreThis place is wonderful. It overlooks the river. There is a great outside intimate amphitheater that has big limestone rocks cut into big blocks for the seating ledges. The amphitheater is located below the facility so your family and friends who aren't so mobile have a great view from the top. The grounds are landscaped very nicely. There is a feel of history here mixed with a great facility. The pavilion is four season useable with big window wall sections that roll upward so you can have an open air pavilion or a glass walled enclosed space. It is really beautiful. The original old mill sits closer to the river and is a great photo op spot. The buildings are labeled so it's an interesting stroll and great picnic spot. I am amazed that they are only charging 1/3rd of what they probably should. No wonder it's booked a year in advance. They do have cancellations sometimes though. This is a great small conference center, party and wedding venue and it's close to both San Antonio and Austin. It is not out of reach for Houston either. They even have a house to rent like a bed and rest arrangement which would be great for a wedding party set up. Really a...
