ALWAYS will give 5 stars to our Missouri Department of Conservation areas and accesses. So blessed to have these areas in my home state as many states have nothing like this. There are 5 camping areas in the conservation area. Lot 5 has a large flat parking area for motorhomes and RVs as well as 3 tent camping areas with fire rings. A wet weather creek boarders the camping area and many trails pass through. A short amount of gravel to drive down but should have no problems with any vehicle. A low water crossing is just below the camping area and I can imagine with heavy rains this could make getting there a bit difficult. In case of heavy rains I would go to upper camping areas away from creek. Lot 2 is near the lake and is also a spacious flat area for rv and tent camping.

This Conservation area located 3 miles from the town of Prairie Home, Missouri has several trails for hiking and horseback riding. There are multiple camping areas suitable for tents. Additional features include 3 small lakes stocked by Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The largest lake is set up for handicapped fishing and has a handicapped accessible restroom 🚻. Deer, wild turkeys, Geese and other wildlife including Bald Eagles are often encountered.

Thought I’d go out to this area to do a little hiking, see the what flowers were starting to bloom. Maybe do a little turtle watching and some of the ponds. Perfect place for these activities, when the place isn’t on fire. 🔥 I did manage to see a turtle on a log at the fishing pond! But the fires were very hot, and dangerous. So I had to make it a short day. Definitely check it out, but maybe better to come on a day where things aren’t burning. WORTH THE TRIP!
